Talked to Rob Spence last night...

Nov 13, 2008, 12:23 PM

I ran into Ole Rob Spence last night in FIKE and decided to introduce myself and talk to him for a bit. He is a very nice guy. I asked him how he things were going and he sincerely said that times are tough for him right now and he is looking for a new job. I told him I appreciated what he did at Clemson and that I was sorry things unfolded the way they did. He said that he still loves Clemson and there are absolutely no hard feelings. He also said that he understands that what happens is just the nature of the job. No matter how terrible of an OC he is, he is still and very respectable person and a stand-up guy. I wish him the best of luck wherever he goes.

MOST OF THESE MORONS WOULD NOT KNOW CLASS IF IT SLAPPED THEM IN THE FACE, WHICH MOST NEED BY THE WAY.

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

Interesting - I think the guy is not done

Nov 13, 2008, 12:28 PM

I think he just got overwhelmed by it all.

He certainly had potential when he came here, and say what you want, but it is a fact that our teams set some records under his direction.

His downfall was too much complexity coupled with predictablility. If you can't get 3.333333 yards every single time, you had better be able to get more than that some of the time. Our offense was too sporadic.

Maybe we didn't know exactly which flavor of a play was coming, but too many times the opposition knew enough from scouting to stop it.

Hope he finds better success elsewhere - on a team that doesn't play us.

I think you're right. He'll end up somewhere as an OC.

Nov 13, 2008, 12:37 PM

The guy is universally considered one of the best OCs in America. It didn't work at Clemson but he'll land on his feet.

Keep chasing those windmills, Steve!
