Hey Bowden...Make the team practice in the rain

Mar 30, 2008, 12:33 AM

Unless the NCAA decides to cancel any football games due to rain, we should be out there practicing rain or shine. An indoor dome would be nice for some cold days, but we should not lose an entire scrimmage or practice.

I believe they MIGHT do just that, but not when lightning is

Mar 30, 2008, 12:34 AM

around. I know they have a system that reports if any bolts are within several miles.

No point being out there and getting somebody killed.

If actual games are delayed because of lightning, you know..

Mar 30, 2008, 12:51 AM

Practices will be. Always better to cautious when it comes to that stuff.

I was on a golf course near Clemson

this morning...

Trust me, with two lightning bolts striking the ground in quick succession, the accompanying thunder, and the sideways rain...I'd rather our football team not take the chances and practice in inclement weather.

It was worse than the report makes it sound, that's for sure!

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

While this is true...

Mar 30, 2008, 1:11 AM

... the last thing we need is for a player to get hurt on a sloppy field during practice. It's very easy to plant and move in an awkward direction under these conditions. Players need to be able to deal with adverse situations, but not at the potential expense of their health and future. The lightning just makes it a trivial call to get kids to safety.

the Ray Ray thing has made him look uncaring. Believe me if it wasn't for that, he'd have those guys out on the field lightning or not.

Re: Hey Bowden...Make the team practice in the rain

Hey, you, there was lightning and lots of thunder and the warning system announced lightning in the areas. I was there. Would you be happy if someone was struck by lightning? They did not waste the day after the scrimmage was halted.

Tommy Bowden halted everything for safety reasons.

Hey Dave.

Mar 30, 2008, 1:04 PM

Shut up. Lighting can kill people and that's why the NCAA mandates that you stop games and practices if such is the case.
