HELP...Need a quick comeback to a Coots email.

He sent me a BS article via email about how Clemson is should not be considered a "football school." So naturally I emailed him back "This is South Carolina Football."
His response was the following..."The only difference is we know we have never been good. Clemson thinks they are a national powerhouse."
I was thinking about responding with how many conference championships we've won, etc.
GIVE ME SOME INPUT FAST!

Interesting that even in the glorious 80s we were still only the 12th best team. Whereas, the "mediocre" Bowden years (2000-2006)have us ranked at a "woeful" 24th. I guess everyone has their own defintion of mediocre but I think most programs would be happy with being a perennial Top 25 team in this day and age. If nothing else, the fact that the program dropped from 12 to 31 in one 10 year span and Bowden has managed to improve from 31 to 24 in seven years certainly adds credibility to the argument that the program is headed in the right direction, despite what the naysayers may claim.

maybe you can use them in the future.
A writer from Boston ranked Clemson as the 18th football program of all-time last year based on the following:
*All time winning percentage
*AP/ UPI championships, ESPN since 98
*conference titles
*bowl appearances
*total wins
In 2004, CFN ranked Clemson 37th all-time.
And in the middle of SEC territory, the Tuscoloosa News last year ranked Clemson as the 24th all-time program.
Street and Smiths also did a Top 50 in 2005, but I have been unable to find the rankings from that one.
All of these were put together by individuals/media from other parts of the country unassociated with Clemson. I think it falls in line with where most Clemson people feel our program ranks all-time.
