Tommy, I love you man but this FG issue has me flummoxed...

Tommy, you say in the article on the front page that "we just made a mistake" in selecting Furr over Dean to start the season as the kicker. Well, OK, we certainly all make mistakes, but this one was a whopper. It can be argued that it cost us the GT game (missed FG), caused us to unnecessairly go to OT with WF and kill any potential momentium against TAM after our touchdown (PAT missed badly). As mistakes go that's a pretty darn big one. And if you are going to make a mistake with picking a kicker wouldn't you want to make it with the one you have on scholarship? But forgive me, I forgot. This is your profession. Just a frustrated Tiger fan that will be there again this week.

how else was he supposed to pick one? Apparently, there was no clear choice.
However, I am glad that Jad is kicking now. I think he will do a great job.

here is something I agree on, but I'm not sure if anyone's to blame.
The last few years, at least the last two, we've been hearing about these kickers nailing 48+ yarders in practice with a rush on regularly. Both of them this Spring and Fall if the reports were to be believed. Then we get in a game and miss two kicks from a little bit over 30 yards and an XP?! Alright, I can't kick the FG's and I'm not saying it's easy, so I'm not really down on our boys. I am confused why we hear about how far and accurate they are right up until it counts.

His kicks were too low last year, and that was the rationale for not replacing Hunt...but that was when he was first adjusting to kicking off of the ground. They are fine now.

and he said that during the summer he hit one from 76 yards. If he has that kind of distance, I would imagine he can handle the height.

We could have kicked another field goal at the end of the game, after Currie's return, had the first field goal been made.

Jad Dean could have. He is the kicker that was recruited for kicking and has a strong leg.
