I'll see your mom and dad next spring in Truk. Just confirmed with WDC today! I hear the mystery trip was to St. Lucia. Did you guys go?

Jun 26, 2006, 3:30 PM

I am jealous you are going to Truk. That was the ultimate trip. My parents are going also. I think Serena has two consecutive weeks set up but I don't know which one my parents are signed up for. Good to hear from you.

Jun 26, 2006, 3:59 PM

My ears hurt like hell when I just jump into the deep end of my pool

and equalizing the pressure means what?..........

Jun 26, 2006, 4:51 PM

hold your nose and and close your mouth and blow out?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

exactly. hold your nose and blow out

Jun 26, 2006, 4:56 PM

that forces more air behind your ear drum to equalize the pressure from the water. This has to be done every few feet or so. Next time you swim in a pool, try it. Don't worry, the air escapes as you ascend. Congestion can obviously make it much more difficult.

During dive class, you learn how to clear,or equalize your

ears. Similar to going to the mountains. However, I have always had more of a problem with that than most divers.

great photos - where is the body of water below with the sunset(?)! One of my books is called Shark Attack from my spearfishing (Hawaiin Sling) days. My first watersports were on Thompson Creek in Chesterfield. Ocean Drive, Charleston and Lake Hartwell.

Well, you have had a lots of responses, but I would like to say that the photo with the sunset or sunrise looks like a shot from a diving club at Normans' Cay in Bahamas that got famous in movie "Blow" about when it was controlled by cocaine lord from Columbia. I am glad the DEA got that beautiful island back for us.

Re: something like this?

More great pbotos, but no, those are more like from St. Lucia, not Bahamas - more tropical! I spent a good bit of time in St. Lucia, but prefer the diving in Bahamas, Grand Turk, Provo........lot more seafood - lobster, grouper, etc. the "Far Out Islands" and the natives are alot more friendly...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

one of the Pitons, right! NICE!***
