against the Westboro Baptist Church wholeheartedly.
Keep living to your double standards.
The booing was wrong in that situation, if you cannot see that it was wrong, you're simply rude, moronic, and deserve no respect.

Wth does the Westboro Baptist Chuch have to do anything?
I don't know if that's a red herring, a straw man, or just plain dumb.
Try a different example.

alum cocnerning the booing. My parents taught me how to behave even before I entered Clemson, and my Clemson education further enhanced my values. The error in all this was having a solemn ceremony before 80,000 football fans. It should have been in an intimate setting before family and close friends.

candidate running, both are equally inept and will do nothing for our country.
My post was about right and wrong, and booing the president during a sacred and treasured moment for those cadets, their family, and our country was wrong. Sure, you may have your right to free speech, but that doesn't stop you from being an as#####. Just like the Westboro Baptist Church, which is not a straw-man argument.

This comparison makes you a complete and total a**hole , booing at a football game is a god given right especially for people that by tickets. Showing up to a dead soldiers funeral to tell the deceaseds family that the soldier deserved to.die because of Americas stance on gays deserves the death penalty.

It's about the motive behind it... it wasn't done out of hate for the troups or military... it was the crowd stating their political stance. Just like if there had been a HUGE uproar instead of a boo. It is political not hateful.

Westboro Baptist Church has every right to express their view, using your own logic there is nothing wrong with WBC. And that is exactly the irony, but you do think what WBC does is wrong.

Yes it's freedom speech. We're not really arguing that though. Just because WBC isn't legally wrong doesn't mean it's not rude, insensitive, terrible, etc...
It's the difference in how everyone is interpreting the booing. It is free speech. Some thing it's wrong. some think its okay. Who gives a ####.
the POINT is your analogy is comparing something extremely vile and evil, but still legal to something that is somewhat offensive and ill-timed, and still legal.
Thus your argument = weak.

To even put those folks booing Obama in with Westboro. Yeah they have free speech and who are you to determine that it is wrong to boo Obama? Had nothing to do with the troops, but Obama. You don't even know the people who booed, so you're blindly judging them, what does that say of you

The point is not to compare the booers and Westboro as being equally bad.
The point is that both are exercising their right to free-speech. However, you think Westboro is bad for it, right?
The point merely emphasizes time and place, and neither one of those groups apparently have a good sense of that.

I think everyone understands that you're trying to point out a sort of hypocrisy among the booers --- who apparently are touting freedom of speech in this instance. You're saying that those same people are the first to try and restrict the speech of the WBC when it upsets them. I get that. I think everyone does.
However, that whole argument rests on the assumption that those who don't have a problem with the booing inherently have a problem with the Westboro Baptist Church. An assumption...that at least when I'm speaking for myself....is patently false.
Assuming someone's position and misrepresenting it to point to a conclusion is the definition of a straw man.
Have you considered that there are people who support freedom of speech in ALL instances? Including both the booing and the WBC? That's my issue with the OP.
You're creating this dichotomy that doesn't have to exist. The definition of the partisanship which you claim to oppose.

the difference is the football fans came to watch football and in front of 80,000 people not everything will be seen as sacred especially when politics are introduced . Westboro shows up to tell families that their loved one gave their life for nothing at a sacred event. the last time I went to a Clemson game a student on the hill would not stop screaming 'go tigers' over and over during the National Anthem . I politely told him to shut up or I would stomp his ### into mud , who was wrong?

The analogy was and is ####### horrible , I stood beside my friend while they buried his brother in front of his mother,father,sister-in-law,niece and nephew. Comparing booing at a football game to what Westboro dirtbags do at a soldiers , a father , a husbands , a sons funeral is simply ignorant and it pisses me off to no end because I have walked in those shoes . Soccercrazy is a ####### ###### that has not lived a tough day in his life and needs to get over a little bit of booing because our administration decides to bring things that dont belong into the football atmosphere. If you have a problem with what I say , message me and I will give you my address and we can talk about it like men otherwise all of you are speaking from your ### and need to grow up . Booing at a football game and Westboro Church never ever needs to be mentioned in the same sentence again.

Westboro baptist church: has the right to protest People that booed: had the freedom of speech to be able.....but it's stupid of both of them because the thing they're trying to protest or show they're opinion of has nothing to do with them, it only takes away from someone else's important moments

Booing was rude and in poor taste.

But if rude and in poor taste were illegal, there would be no University of South Carolina Football program.

Lets be honest here, If booing Obama is "rude and in poor taste" then about 90% of what goes on when we play the Coots is "rude and in poor taste."

? Don't see your point at all. It was actually funny being there. No harm no foul. Was at a Springsteen show a few years back and he dedicated a song to president Clinton. He got a big boo. It ain't a dbl standard Bo even the liberal ### Boss laughed. Get a sense of humor

Here is the problem with your argument...

The people that booed the president booed him... and him directly. Ill-timed... yes. WBC is booing at funerals. They are saying that the troop deserved to die. They are booing 'in protest of war', which would be the president's decision. So they should be booing the president as well, not going to funerals of those that sacrificed their lives and booing them. Does that make sense?

Makes lots of sense. I wish Obama had never started this war that has cost us taxpayers trillions of dollars that we don't have!
