What a Clemson man does when life gives him lemons

Apr 7, 2011, 10:27 PM

He puts freaking paws on 'em. The old man played for Frank on the '59 Sugar Bowl team. His doctor told him he traded his knees for a college education. He has had 14 surgeries on his right knee, with the last being an amputation. The thing just wasn't any good anymore. So today he got his new Clemson leg. He can't wait to walk around at Clemson games without a walker.

Hope his rehab goes well! What a tough thing to go through.***

He has a great attitude.

Apr 7, 2011, 10:31 PM

The day after the surgery, somebody came to see him and told him he looked good. He said he'd lost 15 pounds. He then had to explain he was referring to his leg.

That's ONE way to shed the pounds . . . great story ! ! !

My friend had a similar operation, tricky to get used to at first but a LOT less pain later.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He had been in so much pain

Apr 7, 2011, 10:56 PM

After the surgery they sent a psychiatrist to meet with him to make sure he wasn't delusional because they thought he seemed way too happy. They didn't realize he'd been dealing with severe pain since 2007.

That's GREAT...

I love his attitude! If that is the best choice to make, smile and put a Tiger Paw on it! That, my friends, is the CLEMSON spirit! Please tell him that he has the prayers and support from his Clemson family.

Wasn't that one of the men featured in the latest Orange Experience? His face and story look familiar.

"When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons." -John Newton

If you think you've got problems...just look around there's someone that would trade with you. Keep up the good work...one foot in front of the other.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is awesome

Apr 8, 2011, 10:34 AM

I hope his rehab goes well.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Coach George Allen said, "Life is 10% what happens to you

Apr 8, 2011, 12:23 PM

and 90% how you react to it." Congrats on having the right attitude and being an inspiration to all around you.

PS No, George Allen is not the old guy with thick glasses who played God in the movies... ;)

who thumbs downed this post. It's pulse is at 99% and ......

Apr 8, 2011, 1:14 PM

it should be at 100% if everybody gave it a thumbs up.

What d### you would have to be to thumbs down this post.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Someone gets their kicks giving me a thumbs down

Apr 8, 2011, 9:57 PM

on every post I make (stalking?). I lose all kinds of sleep over it and tossing and turning all night long. Eventually I get some rest knowing that I've given some poor sap a better feeling of self worth by clicking their mouse on a thumbs down icon. I imagine they get all giddy about it.

Did I miss something?! WHAT IS THIS TIGER'S NAME!

Apr 9, 2011, 8:44 AM

Don't know his name, so please fill me in. Go TIGERS!
