I think some people miss out on actually enjoying sports...

because they allow themselves to become demanding rather than supporting. 50% of all sports is losing. I am happy when Clemson wins and I absolutely hate it when Clemson loses. However, one of the biggest problem with a lot of you message board fans is you are setting yourself up to be mad at some coach for your entire life. Jack Legget has one of the best resumes in the country. There are more angry fans of other schools who are mad at their coaches who would kill to have our coach. If you people would focus on SUPPORTING the team first and not DEMANDING things from them as your primary motivation for following Clemson athletics then you would probably make better, less fickle, fans and be happier in the process.

Years ago I had to reexamine why I reacted to Clemson sports as I did because I was allowing myself to be miserable not only anytime we lost, but anytime we didn't play well.

It ate at me and I was just miserable till I evaluated what it was about sports (and Clemson sports especially) that allowed me to be so sad/angry at losing.

And in the end I realized I loved Clemson winning more than just getting to watch/hear/follow Clemson sports. Winning is fun and great, but I had lost the ability to just enjoy Clemson sports (and some other sports) just for the enjoyment's sake.

It really is quite different when you try to focus on being a fan of the school/team and not on your own expectations for the teams' performance.

How do you figure?

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, for sports with more than 1 team competing

If you view anything other than winning as losing then there would be 1 winner and a bunch of losers.

I imagine he's referring to individual sports and/or sports like today's golf match, where one team/person wins and the rest lose.

I dont mind Clemson loosing some games

When a team has more talented players and still lose to less talented team then I have a problem.

I totally agree. Really have trouble understanding the motivation behind many of the posts on this board. If we don't win every game its fire the coach.Makes me wonder how many of these people are Clemson fans. Some opinions are better left unsaid.
