Whoever drafts a WR over C. Johnson is crazy, imo.***

Feb 28, 2007, 1:12 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No one will. He's gone by pick 4.***

Feb 28, 2007, 1:13 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

interesting dilemma for the first 5 picks.............

Feb 28, 2007, 1:14 PM

do you take Johnson even though you might not need a WR?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Raiders need QB, no way DET or CLE pick another WR

Feb 28, 2007, 1:19 PM

Detroit has taken a million consecutive WRs in the first round.

Cleveland has actually taken two (Edwards and "I'm a ^&#$^ Soldier!" Winslow) and they really need either a RB or QB.

Frankly, TB doesn't need a WR either, but they can afford to take him and not be roasted by their fan base.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

if TB gets Garcia and CJohnson they could have a good

Feb 28, 2007, 1:20 PM

offense next year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm a big Bucs fan and would love to see that, but...

Feb 28, 2007, 1:22 PM

their defense is getting very old.

How is Derrick Brooks now? Still a great player, but getting

Feb 28, 2007, 1:24 PM

up there in age.

Maybe Derrick will suggest that TB takes Geno Hayes next year in the draft to take his spot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brooks still has "game" ...

Feb 28, 2007, 1:26 PM

I'd love to see Gaines in the pewter and red. Our DEs are getting old too.

Sounds like that Tampa Bay needs to start hitting the Free

Feb 28, 2007, 1:27 PM

Agent market for some YOUNGER talent.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They should pass on Garcia unless they run the west coast

Feb 28, 2007, 1:25 PM [ in reply to if TB gets Garcia and CJohnson they could have a good ]

(I don't know if they do.)

Garcia has only done well in two places: SF and PHI. Both ran the west coast offense.

In his other stints (DET/CLE) he was terrible. (Admittedly, Garcia didn't have much help.)

If I were the CLE GM, I would make an offer to ATL for Matt Schaub and ATL's 1st round pick (11?) for the #3 pick and my third round pick.

That way, CLE gets a solid QB and a chance to get either Peterson or Lynch at RB.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

TB and Gruden run the west coast style offense***

I know there are specicfic needs, but this guy is a sure thing.

too bad the Raiders have nobody to throw the ball to him***

Feb 28, 2007, 1:16 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

he is used to that***

Feb 28, 2007, 1:16 PM

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

agree, but they will take quinn or russell***

Feb 28, 2007, 1:17 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They can trade Moss for a QB and take johnson... they want

Feb 28, 2007, 1:18 PM

to get rid of Moss anyway... the total sum from the deal is better

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd trade moss for a case of beer***

Feb 28, 2007, 1:19 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

hahaha over valued***

Feb 28, 2007, 1:20 PM

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Feb 28, 2007, 1:15 PM [ in reply to Whoever drafts a WR over C. Johnson is crazy, imo.*** ]

needs but who doesn't need a franchise type guy... ask the Texans how drafting for need turned out last year haha

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Rice didn't need to be fast because....

Feb 28, 2007, 1:15 PM

he made up for it by running good routes and catching just about everything thrown to him.

And jumping out of the gym.

Feb 28, 2007, 1:30 PM [ in reply to Rice didn't need to be fast because.... ]

I actiually watched Rice, Newton, and Stuckey run their 40s on NFL network. When he ran 4.53, the commetators (which were Eisen, Marshall Faulk, #### vermeil, and another guy I don't know) said that was about what the scouts expected.

So... slow is relative. If they expected hinm to be in the 4.5 range, then was he really slow? If they expected a 4.4 and he ran a 4.6... that would be slow.

It's nice to see Gaines getting some love, but...

Feb 28, 2007, 1:18 PM

There's really no reason to hate on Sidney Rice. I may be in the minority on this one, but there are very few players on South Carolina that I actually dislike (every now and then you get a Tanneyhill or a Demetrius Summers). I don't hate the player, I hate the uniform, and Sidney Rice is no longer a Gamecock and I wish him well.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well stated. Although I do hate Newton. But I'm pulling

Feb 28, 2007, 1:19 PM

for Rice.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd agree with that...

Feb 28, 2007, 1:20 PM [ in reply to It's nice to see Gaines getting some love, but... ]

Unless a player gives me reason to dislike him, I like to see them as good souls in a terribly misguided situation.

Best of luck to Sidney. May he do at least as well as Ko.

badge-donor-20yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-revdodd.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

While I agree and hope that Sidney Rice does well.....

Feb 28, 2007, 1:26 PM [ in reply to It's nice to see Gaines getting some love, but... ]

A reason it may matter how former players do is that it could help South Carolina in recruiting process if they turn out top draft picks and if players give money back to the school.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Rice is a lil' like R. Gardner, only better. He's football

Feb 28, 2007, 1:27 PM

fast and made our DBs look like they were slow.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I suspect Rice will have a long, steady career. Wont blow

Feb 28, 2007, 1:30 PM

any doors off, but will have staying power.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Staying in the NFL is not about talent, but work ethic.

Feb 28, 2007, 1:40 PM

I don't know much about Rice, but if he works hard he'll stay in the NFL.

(cannot necessarily say the same thing for Rod, unfortunately...)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Rod was called 50-50 in Washington because of his work

Feb 28, 2007, 1:43 PM

ethic. I understand did play some for KC last year.
