What's with all the criticism from the Coots today? (long)

Aug 8, 2006, 12:40 PM

I don't understand why the Gamecocks are all about criticizing today...or ever, for that matter.

The Gamecocks claim they have one of college athletics' largest and best booster clubs. IPTAY is THE largest (as in NOT 2nd place). Whipe IPTAY does not produce the largest amount of dollars, more people donate to IPTAY than any other school in the nation. Also, 24% of Clemson alumni donate to IPTAY. 16% of USC alumni donate to the Gamecock Club.

The Gamecocks claim they've got one of the most prestigious business schools. Actually, they don't. They have one of the most prestigous INTERNATIONAL business schools. Most kids in the Darla Moore School of Business are not in international business. Also, Clemson's engineering and architecture are Top 25 programs, annually. Let's also bring up the fact that Clemson's argiculture, chemistry, and physics programs are some of the nation's leading researching programs. Oh...and Clemson was the first school in the WORLD to provide students with a full (undergrad and graduate) Biochemical Engineering program.

Then the Gamecocks claim that we're got cow pastures and barns for a campus, and that they've got a city. So what? I don't think it's a coincidence that most of the country is moving to more rural areas. Do the vast majority of people who work in Columbia live in Columbia? No. They live in Lexington and Irmo and Chapin, which were, 25 years ago, rural areas. Now Newberry and Blythewood are growing. Hm. Would you rather take gorgeous rolling hills or a feaux, poorly maintained park plopped in the middle of a dirt-filled city. Take your pick.

Then they say, "People not from SC don't even know where Clemson is!" So what? How does that play into the fact that Clemson still dominates USC, academically and athletically? Perhaps USC wants to be the Ohio State's or the Arizona State's and have 50 thousand undergrad running around. Clemson's not like that. We don't just accept everybody like most schools. You have to earn it. Most people couldn't tell you what cities Princeton, Dartmouth, Yale, Harvard, Columbia, and Brown are in, either.

Then the Gamecocks claim they've got money and we don't, based on an uncompleted West End Zone. Obviously the Gamecocks have never given Williams-Brice an upgrade, else they would realize you can't just throw down a lump sum and have it done within a year. Also, which athletic program is currently draining it's surplus? Not Clemson's. Who's struggling to come up for funds to pay for a scoreboard, let alone a renovation? Not Clemson's.

Last and not least, Clemson owns USC in football, baseball, and most olympic sports. The Gamecock faithful claim basketball over Clemson, but it's by a mere 16 games. Wow. Good one.

Sorry, Gamecocks. You lose. We are not jealous of you, and we are not obsessed with you. Fact of the matter is, y'all are obsessed with us with your constant belittling of a program that is, obviously, superior to your own. Take a look at academic reviews (namely Princeton and US News), and take a look at the record books. Clemson is simply the more reputable, prestigous, and more successful university. Get over it.

Now tell me the one about next year, again.

good call on, "Most people couldn't tell you what cities Princeton, Dartmouth, Yale, Harvard, Columbia, and Brown are in, either." It's true, I would say New England for all those except Yale and Harvard.

They try to burn down our house in some weak attempt to make theirs look better by comparison. Just laugh at them and remember, it's pretty much all they've got.

You mistakenly assume that coots can be defeated...

...with facts! Coots have developed an amazing resistance to all facts. Your post is a good one though.
