Physics Question

May 30, 2006, 11:39 AM
jford.jpg(18.1 K)

(see attached diagram)

Let's say, for example, that Jacoby Ford is running towards the end zone in Williams Brice stadium at the speed of light carrying the football. Just as the play started Willy Bruce went dark because they couldn't pay the light bill. As luck would have it, Jacoby was also carrying a flashlight.

Could Jacoby Ford use the flashlight to shine in front of him to find the endzone or would it be useless since he's already traveling at the speed of llight?

yes

the speed of light is relative to your frame of reference. Nobody else could tell the difference because they would be the same speed to our frame of reference. But jacoby would see the light ahead of him so he'd know where to go!
