Nice Job Coach Bowden!

Mar 25, 2006, 1:10 PM

You have to be careful when you breech this subject but I am amazed at the number of Gamecock Football players that have been arrested over the past 12 months. Does anyone have a count? It must be over 10. That is plain and simple embarrassing. Now as soon as I say that we don't know if one of our players may make a bad decision this summer and get into trouble, but based on what we know and what is reported, our players have been excellent representatives of our University (if you exclude the brawl on the field a year ago). I want to personally thank Coach Bowden, his staff and the players have represnting our University well and making us proud. If I were a gamecock fan, I would be so very dissapointed in what has gone on at the school. Time and time again their players are stealing things, getting into fights, getting arrested for drugs and the list goes on. They better be careful because one or two more incidents and they are going to wind up on some primetime investigation show and the school will get embarrassed beyond belief. So my hats off to our guys. Nice work and it appears we are building things the right way.

One proud Alumnus!

Yes, some of our young men have been poor

Mar 25, 2006, 1:37 PM

representatives of USC. That's not acceptable to a lot of us Gamecock fans. Our hope is that in time Coach Spurrier and his staff can turn things around. I think he is trying to do this. Time will tell if his efforts are successful. I do believe we have some upstanding young men on our ballteam who DO play by the rules and who DO handle themselves with class. The good guys don't always get the media attention. I wish the University of South Carolina AND Clemson University good success in recruiting good men, and building them into even better men.

I say this falls right in line with "Standard Operating Procedure".

I've been wrong two times, but this isn't one of them.

Yep, it's been frustrating for a lot of us. No doubt

about it. All I can do is hope and pray that some changes are made. Don't know what else to do, to be honest. Again, congrats on things going well for you guys. By the way, I do think Coach Bowden is a good man. I may not pull for his ballteam, BUT I do respect him as a fine person and a good coach. Have a nice day, Dr.

Theres part you can control and part you can't

No doubt some time in the future a Tiger will do something stupid. And when he does I hope appropriate discipline is metred out.

Other than:
1. Trying to stay away from bad seeds
2. Trying to instill discipline and stress good behaviour
3. Discipline them when they get out of line

I'm not sure there is anything else you can reasonably do to change the odds of an 18-22 year old doing something stupid.

Spurrier regretted recruiting the guy

Mar 25, 2006, 4:21 PM

that just recently got kicked off seems like. He must be going for some players that can keep it together off the field.

will see less USC players being arrested because Lou Holtz recruited players who were thugs! Yes, Thank you Tommy Bowden for recruiting overall good kids! But I soon I will say this one of our players will get in trouble. Sometimes kids wil be kids.
