For those of you in here complaining today.

Jan 19, 2009, 2:08 PM

I think it's time you got a little perspective.

If not for Dr. King, we'd have no CJ Spiller or James Davis or DaQuan Bowers.
If not for Dr. King, we would not have Oliver Purnell.
If not for Dr. King, we would not have LeVon Kirkland or the "Call Me Mister" Program at Clemson.
If Not for Dr. King, there would have been no Woodrow Dantzler or Refrigerator Perry.
If Not for Dr. King, there would be no Trevor Booker or DeMontez Stitt.
Without Dr. King, we'd have none of these people who have enriched our lives through our love for Clemson and the work they've done on the national stage to bring respect to the institution we all love. I think it's time everybody stopped being so selfish, petty and irrational and took a moment to realize the good that the man did, especially for Clemson University.

Yes...

the fact that this post got only a few points compared to other MLK bashing or Obama bashing posts says a lot about our fanbase and their knowledge of civil rights history.

the fact that you two are giving MLK all the credit for where black athletes are in todays society says a lot about your knowledge of civil rights history.

I don't really understand the point. Intergration was

happening reagardless of MLK. He certainly directed it but I don't think if MLK had not exisited or had chosen to become a barber or something.

Black and white athletes were slowly coming together anyways though MLK may have sped that up.

What I don't like is that the athletic fiedl/court is the one place that has always seemed to be a place where the races came together in harmony. We all can pull for the same teams together, black or white.

Statements like the ones you just made are purely statements of division. To me you are saying:
LOOK at CJ's skin color.
LOOK at Oliver Purnells skin color.
LOOK at Kirkland's skin color.
LOOK at Woody and Fridge.

YOU are saying "Yea for the black man!!!"

All the people you mentioned are great athletes and probably great men of character. YOU never once identified them by anything but the color of their skin.

Racism lives on, in one form or another.

Thank you.

It's a shame that a great university such as Clemson...

Jan 19, 2009, 5:15 PM

...has so many ignorant supporters that will stop at nothing to rationalize (and promote) their racist ideals. So much white trash on here in makes me sick.

Dr. King's I HAVE A DREAM speach was all about unity,

abou the races coming togehter as people, regardless of skin color, of judging a person by the the content of their character, no the color of their skin.

Wilki, you seem to be going exactly against what Dr. King expoused. You seem to love to devide us.

Not complaining ,but tired of hearing all this bs about how great Dr King and Obama are. At least King did something useful. What can Obama say he's done?

I keep hoping I was wrong.
As for King he was one of the most outstanding Americans of the 20th century.
All he said is that the constitution is true.

have the NAACP, all black colleges and beauty pageants etc. etc. Looks as if we have taken a few steps back don't you think?
