That 19' TL pic isn't right.

They've gotten rid of the "beak" altogether....it's called the TLX now...here she is.

As for styling? No, they topped out in 1993.

I didn't even know they were still making the RL,

and it's probably because it's so ugly now my brain wouldn't allow it to register as an Acura.

19She can't wait to get rid of her 2005 TL, but we drive it so little, that what's the point of a car payment for another car that will just sit there 5 out of 7 days a week?

Y'all having problems with it?

May 6, 2019, 4:57 PM

I think that body style series of the TL was the nicest looking one. I saw a really clean pearl colored in that bodystyle the other day--it looks better in person IMO than it does in any picture.

But I'm the same as you with our '08 4runner. It's been paid for since about 10 years ago, and my wife now drives a total of 5 miles a day (up from nothing per day since last week). Kind of dumb to get a new one, or even a new used one to do that. I drove it yesterday and it just turned 99,000 miles. At the same rate of mileage, I figure I'll die before the 4runner does.

No, it's been a really solid car.

Had an issue with the AC 4 or 5 years ago, mechanic was able to fix it without replacing the whole compressor/system. Other than that, it's mostly just aesthetic wear and tear that's annoying. The aftermarket tint she put on it 12 years ago is all peeled to hell and it's near impossible to see out of the back window or the passenger side window, but we're also not going to spend hundreds to get it redone, so we live with the annoyance. The leather, especially in the backseat, has gotten really brittle, and there are multiple tears in it, some of which I'm actually responsible for (cornhole boards a coupla months ago), blamed for all of them.

It has around 140K on it, and it's still fine for tooling around. I don't like driving it to Clemson that much anymore, but it still makes the trip with no issues.

There a re a few things with teh 4 runner that I'm debating

May 6, 2019, 5:19 PM

fixing. *Somehow* its accumulating front and rear bumper cover dings, dents and scratches, and the leather in the drivers seat has a small hole and looks worn. The white paint (A Toyota flaw) requires a wax about every month or two or else it starts oxidizing. The painted and clearcoated part of the rims are starting to age pretty poorly as well.

So do I spend $1500-$2000 fixing that stuff or leave it alone and just live with it? I have zero intention of buying pretty much anything motorized in the next 1-50 years.
