Auburn signed DC Kevin Steele to a new three-year contract that will pay him over $2M annually.

Don’t remember but they were talking about it on the radio and the numbers were mind boggling. Of course paying him that much is redic.

I've been surprised how much he has improved as a DC after some time under Saban as an analyst. He appears to have overcome his inability to stop running QB's and hasn't given up nearly as many big plays due to blown assignments by LB's and safeties.

That being said, he still isn't worth anywhere near $2 million. To be fair, no one outside of Venables and possibly Don Brown are worth that much.

The back end of our defense was absolute trash when Steele was our DC. Every game we would have several busted plays in the secondary where the WR caught a pass and they were so wide open that the DB wasn’t even in the same camera shot as the the WR. After the play was over the DBs would be pointing at each other like they thought the other guy was responsible for the coverage.
