staying in Union Square or anywhere in that vicinity. My kids had never been to California so we went out last summer. Flew into LA. Did Hollywood and then drove up the PCH to San Francisco. We stayed in Union Square downtown. Y’all, seriously, it was awful. The homeless population is as described and it’s not just normal homeless people that everyone wants to help. It’s a lot of crazy homeless people. We felt unsafe walking the streets. I would recommend staying outside the city. Sausalito is just across the Golden Gate and it is very nice. Nothing like downtown. Just a heads up. Go Tigers!!
The game is in SANTA CLARA. Don't stay that far north unless you're prepared to spend a long time in traffic. Better yet, take public transportation (Cal Train + Light Rail [change in Mountain View]). If you want to do some sightseeing in SF, then at least plan to transfer to a hotel in the South Bay on Sunday to avoid the commute traffic on Monday.
