Last night's unsung hero

Strength and conditioning coach Joey Batson.
Nothing but minor dings for us, while Bama players were taking turf naps and getting carted off the field.
Our conditioning allowed us to be strong at the goal line, when we needed it most.

He'd be worth keeping just for his speech on winning championships at the start of the fourth quarters at the Valley.

We have too many who get no recognition except sharing the credit when Dabo talks about his staff. I hope they all get a 25% raise.

Glad he finally figured it out. I remember when we used to recruit way worse talent, he didn't know how to make them way more physical than some of our opponents and we would lose because of him.

Don't know what happened behind the scenes, but whatever problems we had with S&C before have been solved and Joey Batson has been part of the solution.
I think a lot of our "S&C problems" were culture problems leftover from the Tommy Bowden era combined with subpar recruiting of guys in the trenches compared to the skill positions.
I admit I didn't see the blowout coming, but I knew that if we could get Bama into the 4th Quarter, we were going to win it. Bama has faded late all year, but has jumped all over teams early so it didn't matter.

His best game of the year by far. His first punt pushed them back to the Bama 20 or so.

Didn't things start getting better with S&C in the transition from Bowden to Coach Swinney?

I like Batson, but i think that's only half the story. Its Dabo's long term planning.

When we are playing the whole roster in most games, not only are the backups getting valuable reps and ingame experience, but our starters save all those hits and are still fresh.. even in game 15!

Conditioning is one part, Dabo's policy of playing all your guys is an even bigger part. Our best players simply have less mileage on their joints etc.
