Youtube or other streaming service from phone hot spot question -

1

Nov 7, 2023, 8:22 AM

On Saturday I will need to stream and was thinking of getting a youtube trial and running it off my phone hot spot (Tmobile/ android). Has this generally worked well for you? What about if you are not local but set it up for that area to get ABC. can you later switch easily to another local area? Any reason to prefer youtube versus other? we're closing up my late mom's house and I'd rather not do radio. Thanks

Youtube. I've never had a problem sharing a wifi Hotspot from my phone and running YTTV on a different device; it's how we watch games at tailgates. You'll wanna set it up at your house first and then when you open the app at your mom's house it'll ask you if you're traveling just say yes. Another option since the game is on a broadcast network you could always try an antenna.

Or maybe things have improved since I last tried. Also, the local ABC station is channel 13 based in Ashville. This may have changed a well, but 5 years ago the over the air reception was terrible.

I’ve never had any trouble streaming from my phone hotspot except at the tailgate, which doesn’t work for me at all. If you have a good signal, no problem. I use it in the RV often to watch ESPN+.

East Beach lot. It was a little glitchy at times but it worked. Streaming YouTubeTV. A good antennae should work for ABC but I like to have the other ESPN channels as well. Good luck.

Check if your mobile plan has a data limit on the hotspot. Youtube TV allows you to set the "home" viewing city, which should keep you on familiar channels. With the game being on ABC I'd think all local affiliates in the southeast will be carrying it so it may not matter which tower you lock to but the ABC channel number may change.

My YouTube tv account always prompts me if I’m visiting in the new location. I’ve never had an issue with it out of town. But that may be different under the trial period ??

With Verizon, you have a limited number of hours using your phone as a hot spot per month. You may want to check that out.
