What would y'all consider a successful Basketball Season

What's the minimum you'll take to call the year successful

NCAA BERTH. Best group we have had in years. We should be top four in ACC

That is a worthy goal. However we would be one of 68. My aspirations are top 20.

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

For me a tourney win not counting a play in game if that’s where we land… I have a suspicion this team may be looking at a 4-5 seed though imo. I know it’s early but this team has a lot of experience and a lot of talent and athleticism to go with it. I think they will have off nights like any basketball team but they shoot it pretty dang good. I’d be happy with a tourney win but anything else for me would be pretty disappointing.

Agreed. That should be the bar. Anything else would be gravy.

Actually, a deep run in any tournament.

Win 60% ACC games. Make at least ACC Tournament Semis. Make the NCAA Tournament. That would be a successful season. Hope for more!

I have a low bar: Not losing to teams more than 100 spots below us in NET rankings, lose no games to NET 250+ teams, no "quad 4 losses".

Some of last year's losses NET:

219 Morehead St.
235 South Carolina

269 Loyola Chicago
314 Louisville

SI email blurb today...

Louisville 94, UMBC 93 (men)

The fall of Louisville men’s basketball has fascinated me for years now. Once one of college basketball’s most consistently reliable programs, the Cardinals hit rock bottom...

but they still managed to beat Clemson last year.

Win at least one game in the NCAA tournament. Three NCAA tournament wins in 14 years is not asking a lot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thats easy. NCAAT or bust.***

Successfull? Easy - either win the conference tournament or make the Sweet 16. Hang a banner.

Consolation prize? Win the regular season conference title. Hang a banner.

Winning 20 games or being Top 5 in the conference (this new version of a weak ACC) is just mediocre as seen by the selection committee last year. Making the play in or losing in the first round is insignificant. Want more.

NCAA tourney and

at least to the Sweet Sixteen. Elite Eight would be great. Sadly, I can't really even conceive of Clemson basketball (men or women) making it to the Final Four. Would be great, though!

Semis in the ACC Tourney, too.

Anything that yields Brownell's resignation or dismissal.***
