I see the merit because they have a new defense and new qb’s battling it out

I feel like we have to play a vanilla game because we don’t want to give much away either

Also see the downside for recruiting and fans

What's the point of having an untelevised spring game?

Especially if you're a basketball school trying to be a football school. Assuming they let fans in, they only reached the 30k or so that showed up and some online media coverage.

Fans, recruits, and exposure for the football program are all spring games are good for. The team split up, the extra rules, and only part of the playbook being used make it not even as good as a regular practice or scrimmage. But it does give us something to talk about.

I like it better when they play good on good. First team offense vs first team defense

Sounds like unc is going to treat it more like a real practice scrimmage and not a dog and pony show

I actually like what they are doing though. I think the recruiting value is negligible.

but if they're playing first teams against each other and a lot of the regular plays, scouts from other teams could still show up and see what's going on. There may be rules about it, but that didn't stop Michigan from doing it and winning a title.
