Great win for this team. They seemed much more motivated than any time I can remember in quite a few years, especially the defense.

As I posted last week I had a feeling we were going to win this game until the injuries piled up, then I thought there was just no way Cade would have enough time against that front or Mafah would have any holes. By some miracle our OL ended up being addition by subtraction. That worries me from a coaching and evaluation standpoint. Loyalty? Whatever the reason, Austin had this particular mix playing well.

The post game by Dabo reminded me of the one from Auburn 2011 and ND 2015. Been a while since he had a chip like that. He says “Tyler” had nothing to do with the players play and I believe him but I think it played a role in his post game.

The defense had some moments but overall played well. Goodwin called a great game, especially when it counted. I still think Goodwin as a LB coach is going to be a problem once Trotter and Carter are gone.

The secondary is going to be lights out for a few years to come. This was an easy matchup for them as far as ND passing game goes but they showed a lot of talent.

The defensive line is going to need depth but Woods and Parker will be beasts.

The offense looked ok in the first half. Still no big plays and still seemed to be “hard”. Struggled on the goal line but this time we stuck with Mafah (had no choice).

Second half the offense was just plain terrible.

Special teams finally showed up on our side.

All in all it was a hard fought win. It doesn’t change much in my opinion of what’s needed to improve the team however. The offense is still the same offense. If we’re facing a team with a halfway decent pass game we may not win that game. ND had zero passing game missing their TE.

I honestly believe GT and UNC will be tougher tests than this one was but if our offense stays out of its own way they should be able to destroy those two terrible defenses.

Hopefully the boost of confidence will help with that.

good recap. Second half O squandered some great field position. They just never did much. At least it didnt bite us but it would be so nice for us to stay on people and bury them. Still a nice win and some nice D to keep us out front. And our red zone d wsa great yesterday. Turned out thie fg's instead of td's was the diference in the game

Right. When ND came out and ran the ball down our throat on the first drive I thought “man it’s gonna be a long day in the office”. But then the defense stood up and held them to a FG and at that point I felt like we had a chance in the game.

It should have been a blow out by the Tigers but the offense just can’t find much of an identity and nothing comes easy. Mafah won that game.

Our line yesterday reminded of the game that Deshaun played against the chicks when he had a torn knee ligament and our line kept him untouched all day. I have no idea who the 5 linemen were yesterday because I don't think a couple had played but a few snaps all year, but great job by them and Coach Austin for getting the job done.
