A long, funny, & true story… Earlier today I referenced my 4 children. My wife & I adopted 3 of them through the foster care system. The thing is, they’re not from SC, where we live. Because we live in a “reunification state,” DSS always wants to see kids go back to their parents. When we were looking to adopt, we found an agency that matches potential families with children on a national level whose parental rights are already terminated.
So when we were matched with our children, turns out that they were born & raised in Franklin Co. Ohio, which just so happens to be where Columbus, OH is.
When they came home to us in 2019, we were weeks away from playing OSU in the Fiesta Bowl. They saw a commercial for the game & I kid y’all not, they broke out with that stupid “O-H-I-O” chant.
So I did what any good Clemson fan would do. I looked for an opportunity to get them in Clemson & show them around. Fortunately, the school I was teaching at was participating in Dabo’s annual shoe giveaway. I got to bring my 3 kids along & they got to see it all: Death Valley, the Oculus, the practice facility, & the football ops building. But the icing on the cake was getting to take a picture with TL16, who took the time to speak with them about doing well in school. Well, needless to say, they became Tigers that day & know the cadence count!
They’re older now & can’t wait to attend their first game in the Valley this fall!
