Yes. Your links often send me down youtube trails.

I sometimes wonder where such bands might have gone had personal conflict (and other things like addictions) not gotten in the way. I do understand that team roles can get a bit locked in, which eventually stifles creativity, in which case somebody is going to bolt. After the Beatles break-up we saw that Harrison had a bunch of material they wouldn't record, because he then sold a gazillion copies of it. The loss is not that material - we now can hear it - but where it might have gone had Paul and John not thought that only their cat had kittens?

With the Allmans, Dickie was never happy and Gregg was hardly there. I wonder where else they might have gone had they continued with their jazz/blues-jam-band takes on blues standards.

The Beach Boys avoided the "lets-get-mad-and-split" routine a for little while. When Brian started to go weird they were content to tour and be "The Beach Boys", while Brian stayed home in his pajamas and wrote the best music ever. You can't always prevent growing mental illness, so I guess they got as much out of that as they could, but it seems there was much more in there. They all grew beards and tried to be 70's rock/hip, and I wonder what might have happened had they stayed around Brian more, rather than letting him get isolated and then connected with that guy who kept him doped up. Or maybe they tried that, I don't know.

Anyway, yes, your music posts always do me good. My daughter says her friends think she's weird: they get in her car and it starts playing some 70's something. "So, thank you for THAT, dad." She says she gets a convert every now and then.
