Not having the cohesion of guys who have been through it all together. I also wonder about penalties, blowing assignments, and, in the long run, I wonder if they'll be loyal and return to their school in the same way Clemson alums do. I feel overall our culture is reaping the benefit of NOT chasing the latest trend, and that makes us set up for long-term sustainability rather than a flash in the pan.

I think most programs that don't have the resources to compete through NIL with the bigger programs will have to look to the portal to supplement their rosters to try and remain competitive. I mean, what choice do they have if they keep losing out on the better talent to the well resourced programs?

Clearly, even the bigger schools are using it to make themselves better when maybe some would argue they don't need it. This is just where we are in the current state of college football and I don't believe we are going back.

Not sure there is much to wonder about. YOu've seen the end result of heavily "portaled" teams. CU beats TCU with 80 transfers and Texas State beats Baylor with around 50 transfers. Overcoming that must be infinitely more difficult than plugging in a few players on the two-deep here and there (what we would likely do). And I'd argue making perennial playoff appearances will do more to secure the loyalty of the alumni than anything potentially detracted by a handful of portaled football players that run back home after college.

He seems to evaluate the portal and his needs like most evaluate high school players. He definitely is working it to his advantage. I was surprised to see just how many were on the field last night.

It really is a shame.

And I can’t wait for us to finally land an immediate impact guy from the portal. It’s coming soon.
