I will be out of town and in Scotland this week so will miss attending the FAU game Saturday. I want to sip some Scotch whiskey while the Tigers play. What brand do you all recommend?

The best I have ever had for my palate is Dewars White Label.....

Try Famous Grouse. It’s the most popular Scotch in Scotland but it’s a blend, not a single malt but only 2 Scotches in it - Highland Park & McCallan which are 2 of the best. It’s very smooth and a good entre’ for a novice at Scotch. After that geez there are so many, from peaty to kelpy and lots in between. My favorite is any McCallan any age (18 yo is the best I’ve tried), after that Talisker then probably Glenfiddich (it has a sweeter finish than most). Lots to choose from though to suit your taste. And do take it neat. Enjoy.

McAllan , Glenfiddich, and The Glenlevit are my favorites.

Lagavulin may turn you against Scotch. Way too much peat for me. Tastes like creasote or like medicine some say.
You should try a taste just to see the range of tastes scotch can have.

I like it neat with just a drop of water to open it up, or poured over a clear ice cube, Clear ice makes a difference
If you’re drinking on the rocks.

Yes. I'm a bourbon guy, with literally dozens of bottles. I keep one bottle of scotch on the shelves, and for the last ~20 years those bottles have been Balvenie 12 yr. single malt.

Lucky Johnson

If you're new to Scotch, start with Dalwhinnie.

Even the bottle says "the gentle spirit". It's a bit more expensive than Dewar's but to me is well worth it, plus it's single malt.

Dewar's white label is a great blend and won't break the bank. Can't go wrong with it. Dewar's 18 yr is really smooth.

Watch out for the 'peaty' Scotch's, anything from Islay. Those, are literally ran through peat and are very intense.
