I mow it every 4-5 days. But even in drought times it stays healthy.
It stinks mowing that much but I can do it in 1:10 rather than bag every two laps and take 2+ hours. What is your method?

It's a pain to keep reels and bed knives sharp. If you don't it'll look streaky rather than a nice even cut. And you'll want to make sure the area you're mowing is relatively flat or you'll scalp it to death. Then there's rye grass if you overseed. You'll sharpen constantly or you'll just be ripping the grass rather than cutting it. As those frays that you left on the ripped plant begin to die, the lawn will start to have a white look to it rather than green. You can get the same look from a rotary mower too if you don't keep the blade sharp.
Just years of golf course experience talking.

Not really. Superintendents hate common and that's the only variety you can seed. On new constructions and remodels we would sod on slopes, around the putting surface and around catch basins. Sprig everything else. Really depends on how deep your pockets are. When Pinehurst is building something, they sod everything. More expensive, but there is no grow-in period.

Because of all the roots and rocks about, I modify the height for different sections. It's been raining on and off for the past five days, so it's taller than usual at the moment.
We also patched some bare spots around our patio. It's been ten days and it's already totally filled in.
The novelty may wear off eventually, but I really enjoy maintaining and admiring my lawn.

Mow it at the second highest level of the mower. Keep it somewhat high for self shade and water retention. I water once per week if it doesn't rain.

Correct P6. Cutting grass too low is a common mistake. The theory being if I cut it low, I don't have to mow as often. Or, I really want my lawn to look like a fairway. But cutting too low stresses the plant. You've reduced the area the plant receives sunlight significantly. Which is why a golf course requires constant care. It's a balancing act. Look at courses on TV early in the event. Then look at Sunday. I could even see Augusta browning out in places. When the Open is at Pinehurst, they'll most likely turn off the water. If it doesn't rain, it'll be hard and fast. It will also look like crap come Sunday.

In this case, I would recommend setting your lawn on fire.

Really all I know about Centipede is that I don't really care for it. 2"-2.5" is probably good. It's so different. It's a broadleaf grass that doesn't hold up well with traffic. Kids and dogs can wear it out in a hurry. It is good that it will "silver out" due to lack of water, but comes right back with a little watering or rain. It's does not like a high nitrogen content fertilizer. 16-4-8 for berumda and it's more like 5-10-31 for centipede. Also READ THE PACKAGE before applying any pesticide or herbicide. Some are not recommended for centipede. Can't remember what it is exactly, but someone told me to stay away from "the Q" ingredient if you have centipede.

Another issue I see is over watering, and watering at the wrong time. This can lead to fungal issues.
