Should the University do something to honor Bobby Bowden's memory

...at the October 30 FSU game?
I say we should. Competing against his teams laid the groundwork for what Clemson football is today.

A most appropriate way of honoring him

He did it to everyone else in the 90's.
Does anyone remember the FSU vs Coots game in the 90's? I listened to it on the way home through Cola. It was another stomping.

I think we’ll put up 91 pts to honor him; but that’ll be more about Norvell than Bowden. Seriously though he was great coach and man, and I think every school that hosts FSU this year will do something to commemorate his life.

I cant see why. FSU can do all they want but he isnt one of ours. I think we honored him when we killed the program with Hatfield and let them shellack us for years.

Come now, BB is, love him or hate him, an iconic piece of College Football History. There is plenty enough to indicate he was equally successful off the field as on so as close as we are with FSU, I believe Clemson will have a moment to commentate him somehow. I too believe, as another poster stated, that their season will be full of those moments.

I think that Clemson will do something. They should even have Tommy be part of the celebration.

We will! Unlike their current coach, he would have manned up and took his beating last year. Norvell is a punk, he could not tie Bowdens cleats.

I think all of College Football and the NCAA should honor Coach Bowden for the numerous positive contributions Bobby Bowden made to the game. And for what he did to assist Marshall while they were recovering from the tragic loss of most their coaches and players. Bobby Bowden also helped to turn a lot of boys into Good Men. He is now in the presence of Jesus Christ but his departure has left a lot of people who are hurting. Coach Bowden is no longer in our presence but I pray his legacy will never be forgotten.
Prayers continually go out from many whose lives were touched by Bobby Bowden and the Bowden family. Special prayers for the Bowden Family especially for Ann Bowden for her loss of such a great individual. It is my prayer that the memories of Bobby Bowden will continue to have a positive impact on lives he touched during his 91 years.
My favorite verses in the Bible are from John Chapter 14. To me these are some of the very comforting verses of hope and God’s promise for eternal life. Rest In Peace for eternity Coach Bowden.

Have all of our players gather in the center....drop their pants and whip out their spears and pi$$ on the seminole logo and proceed to run half a century or more on their team.

I answered this yesterday but just thought of this a few minutes ago; I wonder if "Scum-Bag" Limbo Fisher will do anything.

Can I ask where this idea that he laid the groundwork for Clemson

Is coming from? I have seen a few people say that now.
I remember we really disliked him as Clemson fans back in the day. (Remember all the free shoes university jokes?) All the way through until he retired.

Sure. His dominant teams set the standard for ACC football for a long time. It reinforced that if you want to be the man, you have to beat the man.
Aspirational values fulfilled, as far as Clemson football is concerned.

He didn’t coach at Clemson.
I think a statement by the University would be appropriate and maybe if the ACC has one game where all the teams wear a sticker on their helmet or a patch on their jersey. But other than that, no.
People forget he ran a very loose program that had a lot of serious problems and issues. He also was able to build Florida State into a powerhouse using a loophole. Back when he was building that program the ACC and the SEC only took one or two partial qualifiers per recruiting class. He built that program on players that were complete idiots and a lot of them were thugs. He had very much a win at all costs mentality.
Yes. He was a great father and a good person and a good Christian blah blah blah but you can’t ignore how he built and ran that program. I venture to say most Clemson people on this board would not be pleased if Dabo ran our program the way he ran FSU.
