I found the first pickle ornament I'd ever seen at the Dollar Tree (pre-Dollar Twenty-Five Tree) and it had the story about being lucky for whoever found it on the packaging. Due to the fact that my love for pickles is on a cellular level and core to my very essence, I could not resist making it part of the Christmas tradition. I usually go a step further and put a packaged Van Holten's pickle-in-a-pouch in everyone's stocking (the hot and the sour are the best).

When I first met my wife, she thought pickles came from trees (yes, she is otherwise intelligent and has a normal IQ).
It’s been a running joke for years and when I saw a pickle ornament it went right along with it.
