Hard to read this without getting teary eyed

Sep 5, 2018, 11:13 AM

This story on ESPN.com today is very touching and
emotional. It's hard to imagine losing a child and
I feel really bad for anyone who has. A parent should
never have to outlive their child.

And if and when their youngest son plays for the Gamecocks,
it will be hard to talk junk about him knowing what happened
to his brother and their family. I hope we can keep it classy.

Yep, a tough but honest read.

If Hilinski makes it on the field for SC, I’ll be pulling for him.

With very few exceptions, I don't pull against any of the kids who play (unless they do/say something totally stupid that brings it on themselves). The team/univ & the fans - yes, can't stand them, for the most part. But the players - not the same. They've had some quality people go through their program - Connor Shaw and Marcus Lattimore, most notably and recently. Would definitely not rag on this kid if he makes it to SC.

Yep. Very sad. When things like this happen it just breaks your heart
