Year 5 tiny vineyard update.

Just a little background: I have worked 15 years in the distribution side of the wine industry. Sales, Trade Development for the largest distributor, VP of Sales for a small blueberry winery. I mean you all know all this right.

I decided to grow some grapes on my parents land in upper Greenville county SC (God’s Country) It's right below the mountains, mountain creek, draining soil, really a micro climate for grapes in SC. Honestly it could be an AVA.

After much research I planted 3 Chardonell vines and 3 Seyvel Blanc. Both hybrids w native grapes and European grapes. This past year I had my first mature harvest, the chard didn't do well but the SB has thrived.

I made wine w half gallon mason jars and the carb tops. Just the grapes sorted and washed, seeds taken out, champagne yeast. Ended up with about 12 bottles.
It turned out to be one of the best wines l've ever drank. Crisp, clean, dry. Tasted like a Gruner Veltliner.

So l just trimmed my vines yesterday and tightened the wire. Going to take some clones and plant more bc I now know this specific place can create a world class wine. Really excited for the 2024 vintage! 5 years and here I am!

What sounds best

I’ll take 100k for a 10% stake.

I got enough room for about 1000 vines facing the right direction. This place is a gold mine.

I could kick in

like $100 for a free/discounted wine deal plus a well done t-shirt. In the wine club for one close to the house, get discount on purchases, periodic free flights, free hat. Sorry, don't have the cost for that at my finger tips, but they ship like 4 bottles quarterly, the flights deal is quarterly.

of course, I'd forgo any profit participation. Or loss.

So your vineyard is already worth a million?

That 100k tied to real estate?

The property is worth well over a million.

Vineyard is not but it’s only got potential. I’ll do 200k for 20%? That better?

My pal Juan Diego Martínez Villanueva invests in horticulture interests for a Mexican business group and asked if you were able to grow opium poppies there too perchance? I'll call him down in Sinaloa and let him know what you decide.

Deeznuts Ridge Winery sounds better, IMO

whilest I don't think good wine is nearly as easy as good beer, it can be done from smallish wineries.
Sounds like you're on the right track.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good beer is easy to make.

They aren’t growing the hops and barley. They just buy it and then mix appropriately. Wine growing is on a piece of land that can grown a specific type the best, then you have to age it.

I love beer but beer is easy. I could make it in my toilet

2024 purple level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do a hazy dipa with NZ hops and citra in the toilet.***

I hope the vines do well long term. Muscadine typically do well in the south. Good luck.
