everyone that works for me and replacing them with contractors (ie indians--dots, not feathers). I have 15 people.
It's about 100 people total. And more when they outsource me and my peers jobs (which I'm sure will happen at some point).
Hey Trump...you wanna bring jobs to America? Don't let'em go to begin with. Tax the chit out of anyone doing what we're doing and provide some tax credits for keeping jobs here.

beginning of the end in my experience. Seen it several times in my 30+ year career with software companies, and it never ends well. They'll work like #### and crank out a ton of code, but it's not any good. What they lack in communication skills they make up with poor design.....
Also, invest in a good gas mask, they bathe in cheap cologne.

How?
May 10, 2018, 5:07 PM

That doesn't seem like difficult information to gather.
IRS: "How many employees do you have outsourced to outside the United States?
MegaCorp: 3,026
IRS: Enter this number on line 42. Multiply Line 42 x $15,243 to come up with additional tax burden to be added to line 88, AGI.

Based overseas?
This doesn’t seem like a difficult thing to prove.
Compare on shore employees last year to contractor employees this year.
Minor digging into offshore based contrActors would be pretty easy.

From an employer perspective, you pay a contractor an amount for a service. That contractor has x employees and would typically be servicing multiple customers. It just isn't as simple as you lay it out in reality.
I work for a medium sized international private company and can think of many legitimate ways to work around this kind of arrangement. It's very difficult to penalize a company's operational activities via taxes.

But one would think that if the IRS can incentivize a company to purchase new equipment with differing depreciation schedules of purchased equipment, allow capitalization of labor costs (on capital projects, hence depreciating a labor cost) and various other schemes to reduce taxable income...
It would be easy enough to DE-incentivize the use of overseas labor after displacing on shore jobs.

For our operation, so I get involved with these kind of things and measuring what you're talking about would be very difficult.
With fixed assets they are all traceable and identifiable.
Employees are fluid over time when looking at head count and changes in head count relative to contractor usage is dang hear impossible to track and enforce.

after working with my hands in the construction of residential, med sized and small commercial construction, returning to school at Clemson and graduating with a construction management degree I ended up working in the field.
I reported the other day on my favorite boss' trivial reason to jerk employees around and how I dealt with such. Most of them wouldn't take to my training so I left them to continue with the digging of their own graves.

Have experienced this directly
May 12, 2018, 8:58 AM
|
|
The company I spent 27 years with experimented with this 20yrs ago in software development. Within a year, the code was so bad and having to be repaired in house that the contract was voided. The company had approached the whole thing on a trial basis and had kept the in country employees with intention of paring down later. Failure by the dot Indians on a mega level. Everyone kept their jobs.
My wife's company farmed out accounting functions to India three years ago in some sort of a global centralization effort. The experienced clerks had to train their own replacements. It has been proven in the numbers that the costs in terms of money only are not beneficial to the company... and this does not even take into account the horrid efficiency. Butt heads up the management food chain are vested in the change so the facts have no relevancy with the corporate idiots.
Fortunately, my wife will join me in retirement before the cancerous centralization movement reaches her level. Even so, the company has a history of offering separation packages.
Just stupid.
Really am sad for the situation you are in. Best of luck to you fellow Tiger.
