It was a terrible call. Girard is a shooting guard and should be looking for an open shot.
Geech72, what have you seen more of -
Girard driving the lane and dunking the ball (no)
Girard driving the lane and making a crisp pass to Hall or Scheff (no)
Girard shooting a 3 and making it (bingo)
Girard driving the lane and having a pass deflected and a turnover (double bingo)

You forgot Girard working into the paint, attempting a pump fake near the basket then getting the ball swatted into Lake Hartwell. At his height and limited vertical that stuff has got to stop ASAP.

The play started with Girard. Doesn’t mean it was supposed to end up with him. More likely it was supposed to be 2-3 passes that either went inside or came back to Joe for a 3, whichever was open. Diarra did a good job of disguising the trap then jumping out when Joe turned. But then again, the possibility of Joe going to the foul line is a pretty good option too, and I do think he was fouled on the strip but you can’t count on getting that call.

Into the hands of a guy who shoots 94% from the free throw line and only averages 1.5 turnovers a game. Diarra jumped out unexpectedly and hit Joe on the wrist and then the face; shoulda been a four point lead after that sequence.
