nest close to the same time across the country? Seems strange to me that any bird would lay with the weather so cold. Saw one today near the Broad River where I saw one over the highway a couple of years ago on Highway 34 between Newberry and Winnsboro, The one today was only a few feet off the ground like it had been in the ditch.

Beautiful? The eagle or the 'possum?

Been fishing broad in that area for 40 years. Always have been a lot of eagles in that area. I hope the eagles in big bear have better luck this year. They lost both eggs last year due to the cold and heavy snow.

An Eagles head and tail feathers do not turn completely white until they reach maturity at age 5. Females do not start laying eggs until they are 5 years old. Eagles can live for 20-30 years. They do stay with the same mate for long periods of time, but not always for life. They return to the same nest each year if it is suitable and is in a good location. Jackie and Shadow have been in that nest for several years. They only use it for laying and hatching eggs and raising young. They work on keeping nest in good condition all year. They roost in nearby trees when not using nest to raise Eaglets. Shadow roosts in a nearby tree when Jackie is on the nest at night.
Eagles in the USA lay eggs at different times of the year depending on location. Most start in January. They lay eggs 3-4 days apart. Rarely more than 3. Majority of time only 2 hatch or survive.
I think Jackie is 8 or nine years old and Shadow is 7yoa. But I could be off by a year on each one. They are amazing and beautiful. I enjoy the BIG Bear Valley nest for lots of reasons. Views, the 2 cameras, the nest has thousands of viewers and was discussed on national TV last year. The weather is a challenge.

I don't subscribe to FOBBV chats bc of so many Bot and manager comments.

I mute the sound unless Shadow and Jackie are present.

I like TNET more.
