With Coach making moves

To show the fan base and the rest of the college football world that he aint playin games no more, and by that I mean the firing of Streeter for Garrett Riley.
Does he do the same to Goodwin if the defense shows inconsistency at times like it did last year?
Defense wins championships and if we fall short of another national title or fail to make the playoffs, what metrics does coach Swinney look at to make the change on defense?
Just food for thought, I truly think with an offense that can score (hopefully at will like the DW4 and TL16 days) and sustain drives our defense will look 10 times better than last season.
I think a lot of the defensive issues (excluding WF, ND, and Tenn) were that they simply had to be on the field too long.
What say you?

I think he gets one more year. I'm sure he knows he is under the microscope as well as the other coaches.

I'd like to see him have at least one more. I think Goodwin really does know football at a genius level like all the players and coaches allude to, but I honestly miss the intensity from Brent V.
I think Goodwin needs to have a guy hyping him up on the sidelines like Coach V used to have a guy pull him back and calm him down a little.

Bingo! I do think he deserves another year with the amount of 3 and outs our offense had. I do say I miss the intensity. I think we need someone on D staff that brings that fire. We getting a tad soft.

It doesn't seem to be his personality. He should stay true

I'd like Special Teams to be taken seriously. Make Special Teams Special Again! MSTSA!

I think Special Teams is going to be a weak link next season especially with BT leaving. Hopefully we have some surprises and consistency on the punt team.

I think Wes is going to be a great DC

We knew the secondary was a big question mark heading into this season, and they played so poorly in the first half of the year that it really limited what we could do in press man coverage.
I feel like Wes and Mike Reed really coached those kids hard and they improved every game since the low point at wake forest.
Also, I have to remind myself that we were effectively without Bresee and XT for most of the year, so we weren’t as deep at DL as we have been in the past and able to role bodies in and out at will.
So with the constraints at secondary and the injuries/issues on the DL, I thought Wes did a pretty good job navigating, adjusting. and developing through the year.
Finally, our offense was so bad and put our defense in binds all year. Can only think of one game vs UNC where we truly played complementary football.

I wonder why he isn't upstairs for games. Seems his penchant for recognizing schemes and such would be better utilized with a birds eye view.

I hope that’s a change we see in 2023
Put Conn on the field and have Wes up in the booth so he can see the field and use that big ole brain

The old adage “Defense Wins Championships” seems out of date

when you watch some of the games when the best teams in the country faced off this past year.
Alabama vs Tennessee certainly comes to mind. And how about Georgia vs Ohio State? And several other high profile match-ups.
Honestly … it seems like the old saying has sort of been reversed.
Lately, “Offense Wins Championships” as long as the defense can manage to slow the other team down just enough.

That move should light a fire under the fanny of any coach

on staff who has a working brain. Show positive results, or have your house show up for sale after you get canned. As it should be. Clemson has put forth a HUGE financial investment in football over the last decade and a half. And, unlike in some of those "participation trophy" states out west, we expect a great RETURN on our football investment here down south.
