With all the uncertainty surrounding college football right now...

expansion, NIL, GOR, TV revenue, etc... I can't help but wonder if we shouldn't put the new $40,000,000.00 basketball facility on hold for a little while. I would like to see this new building as much as anyone else, but I'd feel a lot better during these turbulent times knowing we didn't have that loan payment hanging over our heads. It just seems we'd be better served to have that money ready to invest in football if needed, at least until the dust settles and we have a little better idea of our financial future. It's these tough decisions that will make or break Neff's tenure, I really hope he makes the right call.

They’re winning and that is proof Brad never needed more money and better facilities to win in the first place.

Didn't we address this months ago when we were asked best alternative use for Littlejohn?
As I recall, an indoor womens softball stadium was the winner.
I wished the OP would take the time to familiarize herself with TNet and Clemson athletics before posting.

Understandable that you hope that Neff doesn't make it a gamble with spending that much money on a new basketball arena without having a clue of how far Brownell will be able to take the program bc, so far this is just one decent season that Brownell is having from the many years he has tried to turn the program around, and it's still to early in the season at this point without knowing how he will fair once he gets into the thick of the ACC schedule.
I hope that it doesn't, but this season could end up being a lot like last season with feeling like this could be the season in the minds of most of basketball fan base being the only ones that was impressed, but the ones that determine how good/bad a team has been, they said not so fast, your program maybe good enough for an NIT bid, and our team walked into their first game and chit themselves in game one. I mean if Brownell can't get our Basketball program turned around to be good enough to draw the fans base in to fill the seats it won't be good enough to pay off the cost of a new $40,000.000 million dollar arena, and if it can't pay for itself, why waist all that much money in building a new arena for a mediocre basketball program. I've always heard that called piling good money on top of bad money that had already been waisted...
I agree with you Francis, at least hold off on any new projects that's going to cost $40 million until they are satisfied that the money will be coming in from other places, bc of the deal that Swofford made for the ACC, our FB program may not be able to afford to keep itself up enough to stay as competitive as we've been over the past decade, and if not, that's many millions that our FB want be able to bring in like it has done in the past....

JK would have us believe that if we spent that money, CBB would have multiple national championships in a row immediately thereafter, because he's THAT GOOD of a coach and it's only been a lack of support from the University holding him down.

We should really put it more toward upgrading the pep band and secretarial pool since that would benefit both football and basketball.

Make the call FM, sounds like a wise decision

in a world/climate of not so wise decision making.
Example: If you do not need a car/truck/SUV anytime soon, wait until mid 2024 and you will be rewarded with low rates and incentives from dealers the likes of which have not been seen since pre-covid. 0% will be available at 60/72 months, large dealer rebates if not financing, and much better lease rates for those who are able to wait for that new vehicle.
Anyway, wise decisions are always....wise

I was trying to do that...Sadly, I was in a wreck back in mid-October (multi-car rear-ending on highway, was car behind the car behind me rammed into the car behind me, which rammed into me, and I bumped into the car in front of me).
Medically, wife and I were virtually unscathed, but the lady behind us was not so lucky (extracted by fire department, placed on backboard, and taken away in ambulance) and the at-fault driver was also taken away by ambulance. But my car was totaled.
And the car I wanted is currently selling for a small markup over MSRP, or waiting 6 months to get one at MSRP. We worked through many many dealerships trying to find one configured the way I wanted on a lot somewhere.
Because of the wreck, I basically needed to fork over the higher price. That wasn't SO bad, because the insurance company actually paid a very fair price on my car (we checked comparable low-milage used models for sale).
But yeah, I wish I had the chance to wait for prices to come down, supply to reload...I just couldn't.
At least I didn't need to finance anything. I just paid the insurance money and what I had been saving already.

Wrecks are never good snd glad you and the wife are OK! Sometimes you just have to play the cards dealt, I understand that all to well as I am notoriously bad with money.
But for those who can wait I think the tide is turning snd much better deals are coming within about 6 to 8 months. Take care my friend and Go Tigers!!

Everything revolves around money anymore. We the viewers support all the transactions. We make it happen. We motivate those that cash-in. But we are the ones that provide all their whimsical fiefdom maneuvers. Let’s spend some time thanking ourselves.
