Will Running back Etienne redshirt or play this year?

With all the talk about running back, why can't we just be happy with who we have on the team this year ?!

Agreed. That is why you get a back every year.

That having been said, it is only July. Still a long way from signing day.

CJ and Feaster should be as good a tandem there is. I would think he redshirts this season but if not, he is better than what we have. Either way I think our running game will be pretty good this season.

Redshirting is a thing of the past. You are lucky to get three good years out of these kids. No way you redshirt him!

Definitely NOT red shirting. Wouldn't make sense.

He needs to play, plus we need to sign one this cycle.

We only have four on scholarship for 17 and the coaches like to have five. There's a good chance Feaster breaks out this season or next and might leave after the 2018 season. Fuller and Choice will both be redshirt juniors this year, likely to graduate by May so there's no guarantee they'll stay after 17.

My guess is that he will redshirt, BUT it depends on a few

things. The best players, the ones that can help us the most, if needed, WILL play. If Etienne is ready, and is clearly one of our best RBs, then he will play. That remains to be seen - anything else is speculation. If he's not those things, then he would only play out of necessity. We have 3 talented, experienced RBs ahead of him. Unless he's just too good to keep on the bench, I don't see him learning everything and beating out Fuller, Feaster, or Choice. All of those will likely be here for at least 2 more years, so there is no rush to get Etienne on the field. That's why right now, a RS seems most likely to me.

It will be Feasters third year one year from now. You can't assume any more that these players will stay. We cant count on Fuller or Choice . Etienne has to play. We need to sign a back in this class.

yes, you can count on Fuller. Now, doodle and Turner, those guys are unreliable, but a RB that catches over the shoulder TDs against Ohio State is pretty reliable.

I doubt I would red-shirt a RB at a top program anymore

May never get that year back. They'll either leave early for the NFL or graduate and play their final year elsewhere.

Agreed! The graduate transfer rule with the three year NFL rule has made redshirting stupid.

Especially one who runs way under the ball and lets it hit his face mask so it will ricochet forward into his arms. Those RBs are hard to find...... wooooeeeeee!
But it's even harder to find QBs that can hit a face mask at 40 yards. We should probably concentrate on that and just be satisfied if the RBs can catch the ball in their hands.
