Wild how many PIs were not called vs the U

Rewatching the Miami game. First 2 deep throws to Bo were clearly pass interference.

He could’ve had that first one though, one thing about Cade is his deep ball is perfect for letting a WR make a play on it. If we had the OL to block we could have one of the best passing attacks in the country.

Another thing that I have noticed when comparing current receivers to Nuke, Sammy, Mike et. al. The past receivers high pointed the ball and caugth the ball with their hands extended away from their bodies. Our current receivers wait for the ball to fall into their arms. Bo would have caught both of those long balls if he attacked the ball.

There were a couple in the first half

I am more worried that Clemson never gets called for Holding, they should try to get away with it some, it could help pass blocking.

But with all of our fumbling, would our guys be able to hold on to anyone?

Man, you read my mind. I guess they allow holding now. Parker is getting held on every other play. Wild.

Just watched the deep ball to Antonio in the 2nd qtr. the announcer even said the db arrived early and he was surprised to see no PI call. It was blatant.

If the flag stays in the pocket it does not happen.

Zebras didn’t lose that game for our team! Good teams who are READY to play wins game like I watched Saturday night.

Offensive holding is ignored 90% of the time, and PI is ignored

about 75% of the time, and when it is called, it's like a random coin-flip. Fans have been conditioned to accept it, and in effect, "dumbed down" in that regard. The pathetic excuse you usually hear is the refs are "letting them play" and "don't want to take over the game".

Personally, I think the rules should be followed and enforced; they are there for a reason. But that's just me.

Some teams figure you can't call every one so they get aggressive about

Absolutely. They are coached to break the rules as standard operating

procedure, because if they don't, they are at a disadvantage.

I talked to a HS ref about holding. He admitted that there is probably holding on every play, but said the thinking is, if they look for holding, they will miss something else, so they only call it when it is blatant and right in front of them. Also, he said that it would ruin the game if they constantly threw flags, so they consciously have decided to ignore most holding calls that aren't egregious or "over the top".

The result is that coaches and players realize they can get away with it, so they are coached to hold. If they hold every play, but only get flagged once out of every, say, 40 or 50 plays, it's probably worth it. Therefore, holding is routine and accepted. PI is not much different.
