Was reading everyone talking about sunglasses.

Saw the cheap versus expensive debate... and I am a cheap sunglasses guy because... well, Im cheap. I also hate polarization. I cant see the navigation system and stuff like that. Polarization does nothing to protect your eyesight... except reduce some glare. From what I have read, it helps with fishing alot because of the way it filters, but again, polarization has nothing to do with protecting your eyes. The main thing is UV protection. Cheap sunglasses and expensive sunglasses can offer protection or none at all.
TLDR-polarization does not protect your eyes. More expensive glasses do not protect your eyes any better than cheapos as long as they are UV protected.

out and about, and many pairs of cheap ones for yard work, the pool, lake, ocean, etc. Makes no sense to risk losing or damaging a $200 pair of shades...

it's the beauty of being an American.
You can eat a steak at Ruth's Chris, or a burger at McDonald's, both quell your hunger.
You can run a race in Brooks or Pic'n'Pay shoes, both protect your feet from the hot concrete.
You can drive a Ferrari or a Kia, both will get you to Grandma's house.
You can sport a $90 Southern Tide polo, or a $4 Jerzees polo from WalMart, both will get you through the doors of a restaurant.
And you can choose to wear Costas or whatever they have on the rack at the local 7-11, both darken the skies.
Me, I like quality sunglasses. After many years of wearing cheapos, I had a change of heart and will never go back. For me, life's too short to get my view of the outside world through inferior lenses.

The polarization and UV protection in Costa and most Luxxotica glasses are actually inside the lens. So there are essentially two pieces of glass/plastic and the polarization and UV protection is a layer in between. With the cheap glasses the UV and polarization alike are sprayed/coated onto the lens, thus it having the propensity to basically rub off over time. Eventually you will see the coating start to smear on the lens.

People are talking as though it's an either/or situation, and you have to choose, you can't have both. "Oh, me personally, I prefer Rick Erwin's over Wendy's." LOL. Well, no ####. We all do. But you are allowed have both, for god's sake. You may have dropped $250 on a nice dinner Fri night, but if you go to a concert the next night and you're driving home at 1:00 AM and have the munchies... yeah, let's hit the Wendy's drive-thru for a quick burger. Right? What am I missing here?
Yeah, I like nice shoes. But I also have a couple pair of crappy shoes in the garage for yard work. Yeah, I like nice cars. But I'm not getting rid of my old pickup truck to haul mulch, firewood, and take the mower in for repair. Yeah, I have some really nice kitchen knives that I take good care of... but I also have a couple of old buck knives for other crap. Likewise, I like good sunglasses, but I always have a few cheap pairs that I don't have to worry about.
Is there some new law that says you can only have one pair of sunglasses, and therefore you must choose, and then defend your choice? I guess so, otherwise, these threads make no fukkin sense....
