Why is Lateek Townsend transferring?

I know we have a lot of depth at LB, but I'm not as educated on the ins and outs of the football team as some on here. Please educate me.

Just my 2 cents but lot of competition and he just doesn't seem to grasp the system.

I would also add that perhaps he just doesn't like the BV system or can't or won't fit.

You never know about these things and it's probably an embarrassment to either the school or the student athlete to reveal the details.

I think for the best of both we should be satisfied with his 'personal reason,' exit and wish him the best.

The staff wanted to redshirt Lateek this Fall in hopes of taking his natural ability and molding it with the maturity to play within the system. He didn't want to redshirt and thus the staff is giving him his release.

Any chance that the coaches pulled his scholarship/asked him to transfer because he didn't want to redshirt or didn't fit into the system and wouldn't see any playing time? Why didn't he redshirt last year?
