Why in the world would Saben leave Bama for

Sep 9, 2013, 10:18 AM

Texas? It's a lateral move at best and Bama will match any offer Texas comes with. He would have to start over too. Makes absolutely no sense at all for him to leave.

Morris, on the other hand, is gone. I've read post saying he doesn't want to uproot his kids, etc, etc. Guys, he's interviewed for every open position over the last two years and just hasn't been offered a job. After this year, he will have the opportunity to go to a mid-teir SEC, Big 12 or ACC school and he'll go. His goal has always been to be a HC, else he wouldn't be interviewing every time a position comes open. I love what he had done here...but we better be ready to replace him come January...I just hope we get to keep him through the bowl game, as I suspect we will.

Any OC/DC who is offered the Texas HC job would be a fool not to take it. Heck, almost any coach at any school would be a fool not to take it. Texas could probably hire Urban Meyer, Les Miles, Jimbo Fisher, and a host of other guys.

I'd advise Texas to hire Morris. I think he's good. But you never know what will happen.

Go Tigers!!

100% agree...my guess is, TX will go for a big name

Sep 9, 2013, 10:33 AM

guy though...a proven HC. I think Morris would work well at TX though. Either way, Morris won't be coaching the Clemson offense next year.

To win MNC at 3 DIFFERENT schools.

He's done all he can do at Bama. Saban has shown before the desire to accomplish different things.

Yup...that and the money***

Saban ain't goin' anywhere. He's got his death

machine well oiled and rolling along like he wants it. Plus, Mrs Saban (Miss Terry) loves Tuscaloosa and has said "no more moves".

Saban doesn't care about money. He wants to challenge himself. Bringing Texas back is a bigger challenge than keeping Bama on top. Same reason Spurrier went to SC, that was a challenge to do something that had never been done.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Spurrier went to USuC because that's all that was there

Sep 9, 2013, 10:40 AM

at the time. He had just failed in the NFL and wasn't looking for an opportunity to "prove" he could bring them back...he was looking for a good fit, and a lot of things fit for him there.

Name one other coach that has left a top program for another

Sep 9, 2013, 10:43 AM [ in reply to Re: Why in the world would Saben leave Bama for ]

top program, just to prove something or just for the challenge. I don't recall this ever happening...and don't see it happening here either. There is always a reason to move...better conference, more money, more control, different challenge (college to NFL), etc...but never just because a coach "likes" to rebuild or "likes" a challenge. Never is that a reason...and TX offers none of those other reasons for Saben to leave.

Texas won't fire Brown

Sep 9, 2013, 10:34 AM

And what mid tier SEC, ACC, and Big 12 jobs will be open? Don't see many positions being open.

2012_pickem_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think there is a better than 75% chance that Brown is gone

Sep 9, 2013, 10:40 AM

after this season. It merely a metter of does he agree to resign or get fired. 22 - 16 over the last three season won't cut it at Texas.

Texas will lose between three and five more games...

Sep 9, 2013, 10:58 AM

and when that happens, he will either resign or get fired.
