The lack of experience returning at the DE position? Seems like it would be wide open for playing time.

I'm of the opinion that none of these decisions are surprises to the coaches/staff.

I think they have frank conversations and say something along the lines of, 'Look, glad to have you here but you're likely not going to start ever so you may want to look somewhere else'.

He said he wants to play in a 3-4 system and move back to linebacker. We moved him to D end coming in.

He dances with offensive tackles every play he's in and never ever gets pressure. Also he's slow out of his stance. I don't understand why everybody is wondering about this move. In my opinion, it's the best move for both sides.
