Why Clemson Should Have A Stellar Offensive Season!

The attached article is about: "how teams try to stop the Air Raid"!

All of the concepts they use; and I have seen these used when Kyle Richardson was at Northwestern H.S. It can work against a "traditional Air Raid offense"! GR does not run a traditional Air Raid; however and is more than willing to run it down your throat!

Check it out.
Many of these principles will not be applicable to opposing defenses!
Can't wait to see this offense!
When they talk about Mumme and Leach the big thing is exactly what Riley is saying; "it's how you rep this offense more than learning a thousand plays"! Rep what you are going to run so well; even if the defense is in perfect alignment you can still find success!
A big difference-maker for Clemson will be his willingness to run the ball! If they have to spend an entire fall practice or two on 1 play; they run so well that opposing defenses would have to be perfect(very rare) I would applaud. Do that one or two things so well; you don't even need to be great at 8 other things, just serviceable! As the season goes on; get great at the rest - to account for when the competition kicks up!

I thought it was time for a refresh but don’t think our scheme was the issue last year. Regardless of the scheme, if your QB can’t function at a reasonable level and your WRs are not explosive you will have limited success.

I can stay with confidence that the kid is an unproven commodity up to this point. Until he proves otherwise who can honestly predict what level of success Riley's offense will attain. It's this uncertainty that brings into question some of Clemson's preseason rankings.

Mumme's Air Raid Certification is on my to-do list, but I have reviewed many of the concepts and it is a fun offense for exploiting mismatches and taking what the defense gives you.

It's a fantastic offense when run to perfection. Even if the defense is in good position; this offense can exploit the natural/built-in advantage the offensive player has which is: "the offense knows where they are going and the defense has to react" which means you should be able to gain a step.

I see a lot of coaches try and run it; but most coaches don't have the patience! Patience comes in at practice; because they practice this thing similar to how old veer and flex-bone coaches run practice. I.E. they run over and over and over and over again. So, even if the defense is solid, "the QB and WR's and RB basically out of what becomes instinct, make the adjustments on the fly w/o even having to communicate it"!

Besides maybe Southern Cal now due to transfers(Addison from Pitt last year) and some of the Oklahoma years under Riley - this will be one of the best H.S. star-rated Air Raid offenses "ever"!
Leach at Texas Tech didn't have mostly 4-star players. Same with Washington State. Mississippi State - not sure about the rating of their skill group; probably not bad but not on Clemson's level. Mumme at Kentucky didn't have the star-rated players either to work with.
Riley at East Carolina didn't have a bunch of 4 and 5-star-rated players, but they executed great.
Besides CD Lamb and now Addison(which he shouldn't really get credit for) what other WRs have done well in the NFL or even made it? I think we have a plethora of guys at WR who have that next-level potential( Williams, Randall, Collins, B'Stool, Turner and maybe even our latest addition who's name escapes me at the moment).
Note: I could be way off on Oklahoma WR's in the league; I only recall Lamb.

I'm excited to see us run this offense as I like the one holdover from what we were doing: "it has answers to what the defense does to try and stop you"! Under Coach Morris; it's like we didn't. Eliott and Scott did a good job game planning and had answers. The reps of this offense will have the answers and adjustments built-in; which should be enough especially early on in the season to get wins. As the level of competition rises; by then the offense should be well-oiled. And, practicing against a salty-nasty defense will only make them better!
