Why all the uproar over Brent Musberger's comments? What

Jan 10, 2013, 8:09 AM

in the world is so bad about what he said?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought it was slightly inappropriate, but in a funny way.

Jan 10, 2013, 8:15 AM

I don't know if I've seen anybody who is really upset about it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

feminazis, I believe...

Jan 10, 2013, 9:00 AM [ in reply to I thought it was slightly inappropriate, but in a funny way. ]

I didn't find anything he said even slightly inappropriate. He said his girlfriend was attractive. He said that it was good to be a quarterback and advised all the young men in Alabama to pick up a football and start throwing. He said nothing sexual, nor did he talk about any specific body parts. Somebody please tell me what he said that was offensive.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nothing offensive...just a little inappropriate.

Jan 10, 2013, 9:03 AM

He is there to call the football game, after all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that 'spot' was pre-planned, espn said as much.***

as she said herself....if he used the word "hot" or "sexy" (even though most were thinkin that) it would have been inappropriate

it's sad how easily offended society gets these days.........buncha pansies

over the age of 30 aren't allowed to compliment women under the age of 30 or so i guess.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jan 10, 2013, 8:46 AM

funny, it was also kind of creepy. Imagine a 70 year-old female announcer slobbering over some 20 year-old boyfriend of some other person she hadn't met.

Re: He isn't over 30. He's over 70. And while it was kind of

Jan 10, 2013, 9:03 AM

The thing is, he wasn't slobbering over her. Nothing he said was even close to inappropriate. IMO, the outrage should be directed at ESPN for issuing an apology.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would you be outraged at someone apologizing?

Jan 10, 2013, 9:04 AM

That doesn't hurt anybody.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Why would you be outraged at someone apologizing?

Jan 10, 2013, 2:16 PM

The "apology" intimates that someone has done something wrong. What was done that was wrong? Nothing that I could see,... so why suggest that something was done wrong by apologizing?
Has politically correctness has gotten to the point that no one can even make a complement of someone else?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

nothing....he spoke the truth and people are too sensitive

Jan 10, 2013, 8:17 AM

and easily offended in today's world

plus let's pretend there was something wrong with the comments.......ESPN (THE NETWORK, not brent or kirk) are the ones that kept cutting the camera to her........heck after mentioning she was AJ's girlfriend what in the he!! else are they supposed to say?????...........state the obivous she's pretty and I'm sure there was an increase of kids wanting to become QBs in alabama

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep, Pheebo. I thought the very same thing. ESPN is bending

Jan 10, 2013, 8:37 AM

over backwards to make sure that hot chick is not offended, and apologizing for nothing, and meanwhile they were the ones obviously aware of what was happening and kept putting the camera on her. So either at the time they didn't think much of it, or they wanted to see how far it could go......it would've taken one commerical break for somebody to get word to Brent to cool it.

Jan 10, 2013, 4:02 PM [ in reply to Yep, Pheebo. I thought the very same thing. ESPN is bending ]

...the network and the production truck. The producer in the truck is the one cutting back to the young lady again and again.

It reminds me of the Army-Navy game this year where they cut to the Army QB more than twenty times in the last few minutes of broadcast, including a slow-motion replay.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

nothing at all

Jan 10, 2013, 8:21 AM

we've got a young lady who is making her name known through her beauty...she's a beauty contestant...how can there be an uproar when he's giving her the praise and attn she wants to make her name known?

that FSU uses them as a mascot. And the Seminoles have to come out and say they are not.

At the risk of sounding misogynistic, all the women I saw

Jan 10, 2013, 9:15 AM [ in reply to Nobody with two brain cells, a sense of humor, or anything ]

unlike a thread i saw earlier this week (which had me rolling on the floor) that was entitled "in front of my mother, i would". then some stated, in front of my wife, with my wife... so on and so forth.

THAT THREAD was inappropriate, and i laughed my ### off, which is why i love TNet!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It was a little creepy, but nothing to get worked up over

Jan 10, 2013, 9:22 AM

My dad, who's roughly the same age as Brent, says stuff like that all the time. He doesn't mean anything by it but it still comes off as awkward and uncomfortable. I don't go slamming him on Twitter for it, though. I just call him an old fogey with a language filtering issue. :)

Jan 10, 2013, 10:21 AM

ESPN profitting off of this young lady with out her consent. Did she sign a release? No. Did they even contact her prior? No.

Show the QB's girlfriend once? Fine. Twice? Still not that big a deal.

But spend a significant about of air time with her on screen, talking about how attractive she is? Inappropriate IMO. They created buzz and probably more viewers by making a scene on of someone's gf.

Now its a "talking point" and they're continuing to exploit it for viewers because its controversial
