Chip Kelly proposed an idea of a single, 64-team conference.

Conference opponents based on region of United States, west teams play certain west teams and so on. And you switch regional opponents from year to year, west plays east and etc.

I think this may be the best solution to being able to control and regulate the revenue better. It can help by creating a centralized governance, equal revenue sharing, and standardized portal and NIL rules.

I feel this sport needs to move to something like this and have the coaches and actual football people, like Dabo has mentioned, run the rules and regulations. Not the NCAA because it needs to diminish. They cannot control this thing anymore.

Of course this is the opinion of a Clemson fan, a program that benefits differently than reliant NIL and portal programs. So it’s biased a little towards Clemson’s future success.

But that said, I think this move would not necessarily hurt anybody.

i think mike leech said something similar along time ago when he was on texas tech, i used to tell people even before he said it back in the early 2000's there should be a 10 game season like high school then a seeded 64 team playoff.

It would keep everyone involved (this is even before NIL and the current playoff) and when you keep everyone involved with a chance at the big piece of pie, you keep them motivated. the bowl system has become a joke with many people opting out of even huge NY6 games. its time to stop pretending.

As far as the once conference thing, my take is slightly different, no conference. the idea of conferences is no longer needed, its clearly just become nothing more than a point of contention and a way to cheat. so no more big10, sec or acc patches on your jersey, no more sense of pride for coat tail riding.

I personally like the idea. The beauty of it is that it is only for football, so teams can keep their current conference rivals in all the other sports. Not sure BIG10 or SEC would go for it, because they are in a great position currently.
