Al Golden's always been highly respected

which is why he got the Miami job in the first place. I'm wondering what it's going to take before Swinney is recognized as a pretty good coach, even if he never was a coordinator. The guy seems to know something about how to coach, even if he didn't come up the ranks the way somebody like Urban Meyer or Nick Saban did.

Some folks judge coaches
May 21, 2013, 10:46 AM

by the "are they genius X's and O's guys" standard and then add a few points if they can recruit and hire other good coaches.
I suppose that's one way to look at it, but I think the CEO style coach who recruits well and runs a program BY hiring the right coaches is also a good example.

his offense runs 3 plays, his defense is horrible, and he can't recruit players that are better than FCS quality.

Apparently, Dabo isn't much of a coach, because Clemson gave him the money to hire quality coordinators and this is why we are much improved. Seems to me-hiring a young gun slinger one year removed from a high school head coaching job in Texas-doesn't count for having the vision and balls to make that call.

"Since Chad Morris arrived at Clemson, the Tigers are 21-6. Prior to his arrival, Swinney was just 19-15."
I think they're putting a lot of stock in this statement...

Beamer is funny too. Must be some lifetime achievemnt thing. Clearly he is going the way of Booby Bowden and winding down on a low note

Dabo doesn't get enough credit for the overall HC job that

does. YET! Give him a few more years, a few more ACC championships, a few more bowl wins, a few more impressive to dominating wins of the mighty SEC, and hopefully, a National title. Then, he'll get all the credit in the world.
Other than that, I don't have a problem putting Golden in the top of the ACC coaches. He did a resurrection of Temple. Not a rebuild. Before Golden, Temple was so bad that they we discussing dropping to a lower level or maybe even football all together! They won 1 -3 games per year, were kicked out of the Big East and left for dead. Golden not only made them into a winner, he built them to last even after he left. Many programs falll apart after the HC leaves.
For the other coaches, I think that Cutcliff and Grobe are two of the best coaches in the ACC. They just don't have the program. Edsall did a good job at UCON and I still have a soft spot in my heart for him dominating USuC in their pizza bowl! I don't have a problem with Paul Johnson. He won at every stop he made. I don't have a big problem with Jimbo either. He's on par with Dabo in recruiting and has gotten a little of FSUs winning tradition back.
The one problem I do have is Fedora. He won at conference title at Southen Miss. Heck, every coach won at SM untill Ellis Johnson destroyed them!
I do believe that Dabo will have his day. Just keep winning! Go Tigers!!!

nor was it dominating. They were winning until half way thru the fourth. One point over LSU was impressive but not dominating. Heck they were winning until the last second

Yes Chad's offense wore them out. OBS and the Coots only put 211 total yards on them
