Jim Crow, slowing down the vote for the mid-60’s Civil Rights Act with held one of America’s longest filibusters to block it until Republican political party got it passed so to get the historical and freeing act onto LBJ’s desk to sign.
And even with these evil actions by DEM party towards Blacks over so many decades, including putting many into crowed low-income housing, the Black community still votes for them 9 out of 10 times.
Furthermore the DEMs, thru Bill Clinton, put more Black men into prisons due to over-reaching, petty & racist drug laws & charges which caused (to this day) Black women to raise the children w/o a man or father in the household and thus created much of the sad fatherless despair & even crime we see today.
Example: Even today too many of the fine football players that Dabo recruits now are still from fatherless or female dominated homes!!!!

treated black people far worse than Republicans and yet black people keep voting for them, you are stating in no uncertain terms that black people are too stupid to comprehend which party serves their interests better. If it was really Republicans that were more interested in their well-being, why didn't black people vote for them, and why don't they now?
The only possible explanation for this line of logic in your fringe-addled brain is that black people are not smart enough to know better.

the 1940s to the 1990s ranges from a wee bit racist to a Klan leader. Shocker. And most of them said things like your quote in the '70s.
Now...why do you suppose they STILL, after hearing things like that, voted Democrat?
The answer can really only be one of two things:
1. the other option was even worse. 2. they're too stupid to know any better.
Which one do you want to go with, Keowee? Bill has already chosen his camp.

1. For as bad as Democrats are, Republicans are even worse. 2. Black people are too stupid to realize that Republicans actually love and care for them, unlike Democrats.
You absolutely, 100% believe that black people should be voting Republican, so tell us: why aren't they? We know where Bill is.

I’m not saying I agree with this, but you don’t exactly have the liberal argument down, I think they’d tell you that there are unique socioeconomic and historical injustices that may directly or indirectly limit access to some things that can improve one’s station, like a post-secondary education or a mortgage. This obviously isn’t universally true, and the poor of every race all pretty much share the same disadvantages, but at least understand what you’re arguing against.

I agree, I think. Whenever someone points out that African Americans account for half the homicides and armed robberies in America while only making up 13% of the population , I point to the fatherless home statistic. I believe 70-75% of African American homes are fatherless or at least separated parents. Caucasians are quickly catching up in that statistic as well.

That's the social side. The economic side is income.
1

What ties into both? Criminal justice policies that rip a parent (or both) away from families for non-violent drug offenses, or something like DWB. This in turn takes one or both potential income streams away from the family. A criminal offense also makes it harder to get a job upon re-entry, increasing rates of recidivism. Housing stability is also impacted because it is much harder to find housing with a record. Then you have to look at historical issues like redlining and urban development, which locked minorities out of home ownership (i.e. generational wealth) and decimated black neighborhoods creating generational cycles of housing issues. You also have institutional racism where "black names" make it much less likely those candidates will be considered for jobs regardless of qualifications.
There is a mountain of issues underneath that simple stat that you have to explore if you want to be honest with yourself. And we can't just say, "Blacks have had all the opportunities as whites so I don't understand why they don't just bootstrap success" when they've been literally locked out of economic mobility until rather recently (there are still blacks alive today who were rejected from higher education, including high-earning career tracks like med school, because of race), and the very serious issues within the justice system still persist. We're still feeling the effects of Urban Renewal because it takes generations to overcome. Think of how many of us are the beneficiaries of generational wealth being passed down from grandparents, to parents, to kids -- even something as simple as enough money to keep student loans down.
What makes Bill's post so particularly odious is that he pretends to pay lip service to all these things but I guarantee he is not an ally to justice reform, or any of the social/economic opportunities that would help improve this situation, either from a moral perspective (giving people second chances) or an economic one (breaking cycles of poverty). He never once considered that DEI initiatives, that promote economic mobility and would help start building generational wealth that's been missing from low income communities.

which is a start-up accelerator for black/minority entrepreneurs. One of the comments brought up was how hard it is for entrepreneurs to walk into a room of white VCs, and not see anybody that looks like you. We can laugh this off as ridiculous, but think of how you would feel if you walked into an all black Church, of suddenly found yourself in a black neighborhood. It's not about feeling unsafe or unwelcome, but you definitely feel "out of place." It's a similar feeling to why it's good to have more minority representation in mainstream culture (books, movies, commercials). It's good for young minority kids to see themselves represented in the mainstream, rather than always feeling like they're an outsider.

True integration is a positive for everyone involved. The ultimate goal should be that none of that matters.
You also have to remove a subcultural mentality that anything that looks successful is 'whiteness'.

Except that you first have to see race in order to address the inequalities

where those things do matter. You can't claim to take the high road by "not seeing race" when race is still a damning factor when it comes to inequality/injustice.
(I know you know this and that wasn't your point, but so many people, especially on here, are like, "Race shouldn't matter" and think that means no further effort is needed to fix what is broken.)

Not talking about not seeing race, but the ultimate goal should be that it doesn't matter. Definitely not saying you are in this category, but I don't think that is the goal of some folks. If we see a disadvantaged child (or adult), it shouldn't really matter their skin pigment in our desire to help. I think we also need to be careful about trying to solve inequalities by creating inequalities. And, whatever color a person is, if you come from a background that leads to destruction, then you have to be willing to understand that some things need to change.

Actually, 19B, it's the bribes through programs that provide something for nothing that keep many voting for the Demonrats.
When you get a chance, ask old Joe about all his racist stance during his political career. If you want see him to ask him, it's documented in his record

Would it? Basically, you have no point and you're rambling. The basics are easy to explain. You should try. Do you have that in you, or you are just being defensive? The basics are very straightforward. The originally poster was making a strecth about who were the oppressors. We know who they were. The weren't the liberals.
