I don’t really call last year very successful, losing at hound in NIT first round to sone junior college team. This year still had a lot of basketball to play. For me getting to at least sweet sixteen would call this year successful.

first round in the NIT was a bad showing for sure but I kinda expected it after the rug got yanked out from under that team with the snub.
3rd in the expanded ACC is really hard to do.

We haven’t made the tournament yet, hard pressed to imagine we don’t but seriously if we don’t make it to sweet 16 hard to argue a successful season, especially with history of sh!tting the bed!!! And whoever says last year’s NIT invite and one and done was successful is straight up lunatic fringe!!!

I know we are on different sides of the "fire Brad" crowd, but the thing I am most afraid of is that this year will be a blip on the radar, Brad will sign an extension, and we immediately fall back into mediocrity.
I know you're saying basketball is "what have you done for me lately" but do you honestly see us being that good next year with who we have leaving?

That may have been true, but for perception of our team, we needed it just as badly as they did. Had we lost, it would have just continued the pattern of win a big game, then lose a big game. That was what I meant when I said we broke the pattern last night. We have finally clawed our way into 4th place. Now, we need to finish the season strong to STAY there, and get the bye.

No NCAA = Not successful
NIT invite is equivalent to everyone gets a trophy.
If Brad can repeat this years results next year he’ll start changing my mind. Going another 3-4 years without going dancing will solidify my opinion.

hard to even get in that one. For Clemson, everything has to go right for us to get in the tourney every year. Seems like ever since the conference expanded we've had less of a chance at getting in. But if feels like we've had more competitive seasons and teams since the expansion.
There are about 6 teams that we compete with every year in basketball in our conference in that middle pack and we're usually right there throughout the season usually mid or latter half of that 6 pack of teams. That same bottleneck is happening this year too but that win last night really got us to the top of that pack. Most years we lose that game last night which puts us in that bubble conversation. That and those big Out of Conference wins we had earlier in the year.
ITs so razor thin in the ACC in terms of who and who doesn't get in. Pitt was on a roll winning games in our conference until last night. That was a big win for Clemson.

lackluster & uninspired a good bit of the game - but Chef, as usual, played his guts out and there were minutes of inspired play by the team.
Our coach is not good and needs to go . . . . 14 years is more than enough evidence.
Winning by 7 was great - a good home win. Lots of basketball left to play and LOTS still to play for . . .

The Pitt win was a very good quality win but was expected since the Tigers were at home and favored. If you really want to prove this team is a significant contender to win the ACCT and far in the NCAAT then win at a place where a team far down the standings has been a thorn in some of the tops teams in the higher ACC Standings lately.
Notre Dame has won three of the last 4 and its last four games at home. A first year coach there with mostly fresmen and sophmores is starting to implement his winning culture. They play hard and good defense.
Another sign of concern is PJ Hall and Chef are still nor practicing before games as Coach Brownell mentioned that in his game presser. Concerned might start waring on the team this late in the season.
