What does Clemson lose from throwing Cade in at the end?

Nov 26, 2022, 4:12 PM

On one of those fourth quarter possessions at the end, what does Clemson lose from putting Cade in? I completely understand that it is a poor situation for an inexperienced QB, but at that point why not let him sling it? DJ was simply not good at the end of the game, and everyone in the stadium knew that DJ wasn’t about to lead a heroic comeback drive. And for his confidence, I’d guess that has already been driven into the ground due to the mismanagement of the QB situation this year. Maybe just postgame venting, but we all knew a three and out was in the cards when Clemson got the ball back

Dabo needs to protect DJ’s confidence going into the ACCCG***

I mean anything can happen with 2 minutes left and one timeout. But yes, I wasn't feeling confident at all about marching down the field completing 4 out of 5 passes for 50 yards. But it could have happened I suppose.

Not fair to Cade. He should have been the starter all year.

You can't just throw the guy out there without any reps with the starting team and expect miracles every week.

No effort to prepare him all year, Dabo and DJ needed to own this.
