saw bald eagle, elk, moose, pronghorns, fox, bison, coyote, deer, grouse, ...
no bears or wolves
saw more animals then people, it got really cold but had the clothes for it
loved the cold vs hot battle between the snow/ice and the geysers/hot springs
stayed near Old Faithful, Jackson WY, and Gardiner MT
saw a meteor from the Orionids flash in front of the Tetons during the day
saw Old Faithful explode 6 times, once during a full moon and another in the morning with nobody else around
saw herds of Bison grazing in the Lamar valley while having lunch on the side of the road and nobody drove by for 30 mins
flew to Bozeman MT and snow was falling sideways with a high of 16, quickly upgraded to a 4 runner (awesome vehicle, handled the snow and ice very well) and got full coverage
only road open at the time because of weather in Yellowstone was to Old Faithful which was awesome, stayed in Yellowstone the last 3 nights any lodging was open, fire in the basement of the Snow Lodge interrupted dinner on the last night but hung out in the Visitor Center and saw many acts of kindness

didn't get to use my bear spray but I was glad I had it, it is eerie at times walking through the snowy woods not knowing what was around the corner but we made alot of noise to scare the bears off
gave the bear spray to a dispensary worker in Gardiner MT so somebody else could use it
ate very well, supplies from Primal Meat & Fish Market in Bozeman, apps and soup/chili from Snow Lodge at Old Faithful, the Local and Silver Dollar Bar in Jackson, the Rusty Rail Lounge in Gardiner, ...
amazing trip and can't wait to go back during the shoulder season

It is an amazing place
I missed the NC State game which was fine, just checked the score later and was like Oh well, let's go for a hike!

so we are planning another trip out there. I want to just stay in the park for a few nights. Wife and I would love it, kids might be meh on it but they don't make the rules.
Did you pet a bison?

but one was so close to the path/boardwalk near Old Faithful, I could have probably petted him, instead we quickly took a pig and got 25 yards away and just stared at him
there was a Bison that crossed the path/boardwalk near Mammoth Springs and seemed too interested in us, we doubled back a coupled of times to give him some room and he finally lost interest
I would stay near Old Faithful again in a heartbeat
