CU Loudest stadium - 133 decibels measured 2007 BC game
Nov 9, 2012, 10:19 AM

In a 2007 game against Boston College, Clemson's Memorial Stadium set the record for the loudest stadium in college football at 133 decibels.
All these other schools claim to be the loudest. This is the 1st time I've ever seen where the decibels were actually measured.
Rustling Leaves - 10 dB Whisper - 20 dB Normal Conversation - 60 dB Busy Street Traffic - 70 dB Vacuum Cleaner - 80 dB Large Orchestra - 98 dB Walkman at Maximum Level - 100 dB Front Rows of Rock Concert - 110 dB Threshold of Pain - 130 dB Jet plane take off - 140 dB

my uncle was allowed to go stand on the sideline but had to return to his seats because the noise was so loud that it was hurting his chest. He was fearing a heart attack.
That's loud.

The BC game was very loud and if I was guessing I would put it in my top 3, but the Miami game still stands out to me as the loudest. My buddy was screaming at me from about 1 foot away and I couldn't hear a word he was saying. My ears started ringing and I could feel the roar coming from behind me in the student section. It was possibly my favorite single moment in death valley.

I hardly ever sit close to the field

but I had really close tickets to the Middle Tennessee game, and It got pretty loud when CJ ran the opening kickoff back!
Probably the loudest game I was at was 2006 GT or 2009 FSU.

I was at this game and it was extremely loud but there was just something about that Miami game that makes me feel that it was louder.

If any stadiums' acoustics amplify crowd noise more than death valley, it's Autzen at Oregon. That place makes the 60k fans sound louder than any other stadium, including the stadiums with 100k+ fans.

From what I remember.

Clemson set the record in the Miami game, Oregon then broke the record, and at the BC game the goal was to get the record back so they listed the decibels on the video board. That's what leads me to believe the BC game is the record. With all that said, both games were ridiculously loud. Hopefully we break that record against SCAR at the end of the year.

If they would just actually hook up a sound meter, tie in a video output of the dB level in numbers on the Big Screens in the West End Zone saying "GET LOUDER", instead of that visual green/red meter they show now, people would react.
I'm tired of hearing people tell me how little fan noise we have through out the game and when it does get loud it's only here and there, compared to other colleges they've gone too. They love the atmosphere, say we have great fans, but we do not raise enough ruckus in the stands.

"Walkman at Maximum Level - 100 dB Front Rows of Rock Concert - 110 dB"
I know that gotta be wrong. I've owned a Walkman.....and I have been to 5 METALLICA concerts in my lifetime (not to mention many, many more rock concerts)and a concert is much, much louder.
